Re: Match thread, Port in Shanghai
I’m reading this book called ‘the fall and rise of gerlong’ Chronicling their history from 60’s to their three peat...it’s intetesting reading and sheds light in just how the machinations of a footy club work, how you need good people in important positions...hun head coach, sure...but also so much ...

Re: Bailey Rice - At the crossroads?
Can play, but isn't fit enough by a long shot. He's 6-7kgs over what he should be. Doesn't have speed, doesn't have endurance. Exclusively relies on footy instinct. Which means he'll be a fantastic VFL and local player. He'll hate hearing that, but what can I say...you need to be super lean to play...

Out: Webster (inj) Joyce (omit) Gresham (statement - he was rubbish and needs to go back and earn it. Never been dropped, all the others have, I’d do it, send everyone a message!) Ins: White for Webster Brown for Joyce (dropping brown was just dumb selection, he’s been playing well this year!! Dumb ...

Re: Team for round 6
My favourite aspects of DMac's game is his ability to win one-on-one contests, which i think people may underestimate at the moment. He doesn't accumulate a heap of the footy (something hopefully he can add with more games/experience) but he does seem to win clutch contests which are invaluable. He'...

Can't do it on his own needs a chop out & I don't mean Acres, Bruce ,Long or Kent. It's a long season & it will end up wrecking him if he has to shoulder the entire work load. We might not have won if Acres hadn't gone into the ruck. It juiced him up. All this talk of Marshall needing a res...

Re: Team for round 4
Very didsapointed Steven isn’t playing, he’s either injured physically or is mentally crook again...either way it’s bad for us... Absolutely zero selection integrity with Sinclair and Kent staying in and Dunstan going out...this is the sort of selection that just baffles me and it’s been happening f...

Re: Changes v Hawks
Marshall can't play ruck every game this year. Its ridiculous to suggest he could or should. He is a kid and will need help here and there and should be managed/rested for a couple of games. Next year is a different story though. Rubbish, why can't he! Grundy was doing it at a similar age, heck eve...

Re: Hunter Clark - This is your moment
I really like the look of Clarke, got the long flowing locks and seems to really glide across the ground, he looks pretty, but plays pretty tough!! Could be a real saints pin up boy! I've said it a few times on ehere, we need guys with Charisma, some flair, some point of difference to sell excitment...

I'd like to see Long come in for Steven, hopefully he's only out for a week and it gives Long a great chance to get back in the side and stay in. There is no way Mackenzie should be dropped! I love how he wins one-on-one contests. I'd still like to find room for 2 rucks so for mine, Kent goes out, P...

Re: Breaking the Hoodoos
Great post and really fun/head shaking reading! Bloody adelaide oval!! Hopefully we can put a line through a few of those hoodoos this season!! My personal favourite would be to knock off the swans...and in Sydney. They really seem to rub our faces in it every time they pump us! Guys like Parker, Ra...

Re: Dunstan Team first Ethic
With the introduction of the 6-6-6 rule the need to reduce clean clearances is essential. Dunstans role in the middle to block bottle up and reduce effective opposition clearances has been both selfless and superb. To curb the natural instinct and ball chase has gone a long way to us being 2-0. Thu...

Re: Team v Bombers
I’ll never understand why our Match Committee selects Dunstan and Ross in the same team. They’re the same goddam player FFS ... slow, one-sided, plodders who never hurt with their possessions. Just play Ross as the slow inside mid and change it up with Clark in there too. No opposition is afraid wh...

Re: "Luckless" Paddy
I’m with the large majority who feel bad for mccartin and his predicament. It sucks for all involved! As it stands right at this very moment in time...as a bottom 4 side, we have had 5 top 10 picks in the last 5 years, this weekend, only 1 (billings) will line up...I don’t care how you spin it...we’...

Re: Training 28/3
If we drop pierce after a 6 possession game after being outpointed by a quality ruckman, what does that say about selection integrity with Longer basically gifted a whole season where he would have averaged 5 posi’s, less than a mark a game and zero goals... It just seems as clear as f****** day tha...

Re: Changes for bombers
I agree Spinner, Lonie was good, and shouldn’t be dropped, I was just thinking out loud. I’m very keen to find space for both Marshall and Pierce with an eye to the future. Having a good ruck/forward combo is something we could really use in the next 2-3 years

Re: Bombers Getting Hammered...we scrape thru. Consequences?
Our midfield needs to step up Marshall Acres, Hunter, Brown in Pierce out, Wilkie out, one small forward out and maybe Dunstan Will be a big test for our midfield. Shiel, Smith, Heppell, Merrett all no joke. And they were flogged in the middle today, so I would think they have something to prove. R...

Re: Positives
Only real negative poitns from today are the ruck still need work Did Pierce do enough to keep Marshall out, do you think. Or alternatively do we find room for both? I think we really have to persevere with Pierce and get afl games into him, baring injury or a horrible turn in form, he deserves the...

I think one of our small forwards go out for Marshall...probably between Lonie and Kent
I’d like to see Clarke come in for Savage
Id like to see Acres come in but after a win, can’t see more than 1-2 changes tops so he might have to be patient

4 premiership points. No major injury concerns. Parker was exciting. Good to see plenty of variety on ball at various stages. Thought Joyce and battle got better as the game went on. Bruce back. Some indigenous flair in Parker and Long - I think as a team and a brand, we need points of difference an...

4pts is 4pts Gold Coast started with 3 straight wins last year and they have a very astute coach and some high quality youth We had 2 debutants + Kent and multitudes of outs - Acres, Marshall and Hunter should play next week against Essendon The free kick differential was telling - against the odds...

I’d like to see Mackenzie in the side very quickly if he doesn’t make the cut this weekend! Thought we could have gone with Marshall and pierce (might still happen as it’s only the squad). Guys like dunstan, newnes, Sinclair, Lonie, savage really playing for their careers early this season!
