Big names are not required, just blokes who can do the job. Considering they'll be involved with the development squad it's no big deal.

Burnt patches of the turf looked to have pretty much recovered today, which is very good after yesterday's heat.

Considering the four days over 40 two weeks ago and 42 yesterday the surface is looking magnificent. I'd say it is well and truly rooted, in a positive sense.

Well Pete O'Dea hasnt done much development work lately if ever. Not sure what Ronnie has been up to lately apart from watching his son at the Dragons.

good appointment- Sandringham will miss his leadership-

http://www.sandringhamfc.com.au/news.aspx?id=202

01/02/2014
Sandringham President Gerry Ryan is resigning from his post after taking a role with the AFL.
Sandringham Football Club President Gerry Ryan has been appointed to work as an anti-corruption investigator AFL as part of a major revamp of its integrity department. Detective Superintendent Ryan will move from Victoria Police's crime department to the AFL with a brief to liaise with Australian and international law-enforcement agencies that specialise in sports-related crime.

Gerrys new role will mean he resigns as President (a post he has held since 2006) of the Sandringham Football club effective in 6 weeks time.

Gerry will be actively involved in the appointment of the new President.

We thank Gerry for his countless hours and dedication to the Football club.

Superintendent Ryan, a 40-year police veteran, has long been involved in top-level football and has been president of VFL club Sandringham since 2006. He will resign that post with his AFL appointment.

He told Fairfax Media: ''We have seen from what has happened around the world that sport is at risk. People said match fixing would never reach Australia, but we know with the recent soccer investigation that it has.

''Asian betting is massive and Australia sits in a vulnerable position because of time zones.

''I am looking forward to working with the AFL's integrity team to protect the game and the industry.

''The supporters need to have faith in the standards maintained in the competition.''

Australian Football League general counsel Andrew Dillon said Superintendent Ryan's investigative skills and experience would be strong assets in the integrity area.

''Gerard Ryan is uniquely suited to this important role. He has a deep understanding of the Australian football environment and also an intimate knowledge of the risks that Australian sport faces from corruption, drugs and organised crime,'' Mr Dillon said.

"I wish to acknowledge the friendship, support and loyality of John Mennie and all involved with the Sandringham Football Club over the journey. I leave the Club at a very important time however we have built on and strengthened our alignment with St Kilda Football Club which will allow both clubs to stand alone in the future. In the meantime the Sandringham Board's strategic vision is in place for the short, medium and long term which I know will bring success to our club both on and off the field. Lastly but not least thank you to everone that has help and assisted me during my time at the Sandringham Fooball Club." Ryan said

Because there is no rooms to have rub downs, get changed etc. If Sandy was an AFL club there is no way they could play there. bad enough for a VFL club. Not really even good enough for an Ammo club.

with a bit of money it would be fine. Much better location for an intraclub. Crowd would've been double that of a Outer Seaford game

I would be interested what you call a bit of money. Are you able to say what you think that amount would be.

If we all chipped in, maybe we could replace the medicine balls from the 1920's they were still using.

Interchange benches have been installed today and the playing surface has been given a #1 buzzcut. Looks very brown now, but very smooth!

good stories coming from stkildathunda- thanks
http://www.truezebras.com/young-talent-time-for-berry/
Friendships are important in life and also in the workplace. Sandringham’s new Development Squad coach, Jason Berry had formed an admirable relationship with senior coach Simon McPhee that led him to become a new addition to the coaching squad with the Zebras.

Berry was a consultant at the St Kilda Football Club in 2013 where McPhee was a development coach. Berry, the former plumber, is now the new mentor of Sandringham’s youth. The ex North Ballarat player always had a desire to coach but it was not his first intention back in 1996.

good to see a link/ connection garnering good will and skills.
