Him, his manager, Essendon, the media and his mum can give any spin reason they want as to why he left but we all know he left for the money. End of story

Spot on about the hip, SP. There are a couple of orthopaedic surgeons in Melbourne who would bet their substantial homes on Goddard not getting through the 4 years of his contract. I rate Goddard and I believe he's a bigger loss than some on here would care to admit, but he'll never again be the player he was in 2010. The leap and power in his legs just isn't there anymore. Maybe the promise of peptides, calves' blood, or the extract from the wings of the Cambodian whistling moth will cure him. I guess he's gone to the right place for that.SaintPav wrote:Some are looking at BJ through rose colored glasses.
On the flip side, he is slow, does not like having an opponent follow him around; can be undisciplined and needs the coach to help him get into the game when he is struggling. Playing in the midfield and getting his own ball aren't particular strengths either. He may also have a dodgy hip that might limit his upside and prevent him from returning to his 2009/10 form.
He may never get back to his best form and Essendom might be 'waiting for Goddard' like the way we waited for a flag that never came.
Having said that, he'll now probably slam 5 goals in a grand final and win the Norm Smith.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Letter To B.J. - Red(White&Black)gum
Can you hear me BJ?
From your leather padded chair?
There's a tide outside your door
Steadily rising
It's a simple case of freedom
And a lot of us who care
And if demonstrations aren't enough
Well I hope you've said your prayers
It seems this time you've gone too far
Next you'll call the dopers in
And you can put my dossier
In the glossy pages of the bulletin
Oh you think the battle's over
Well the war has just begun
Your resignation's just a piece of tissue
Oh won't you listen to the beat
Of four hundred thousand marching feet?
Taking to the street
Oh there'll be a national monument
In yellow-cake of course
Oh where the plaque reads;
"Look what BJ did"
A traitor's tree, a traitor's rope,
Thirty bits of silver
And a couple of Jackboot kicks
You think the battle's over
Well the war has just begun
Your resignation's just a piece of tissue
Won't you listen to the beat
Of four hundred thousand marching feet?
Taking to the street
You think the battle's over
