Re: Welcome to the Era of the Ratt
Dogs were the best defensive team in the AFL across the 4-week period leading into last week. They had kept their opponents to 66 points, 55 points, 41 points, and 82 points. They were playing for their first finals berth in three years. We had 31 shots on goal and should have kicked 20 goals. It wa...

Re: Lyon
I agree - not the right guy for us now. Our list is not in the right place. But those who think Lyon is Satan because of the way he left should have some empathy. Most people who lost all their money and had 5 years of job security vs. 1 year with a young family to support would take the 5 years in ...

He's only still working at AFL level because Buckley is his best friend. Basically his relationships with the players were so poor that some of them refused to continue playing under him. He also told the Adelaide heirarchy that they needed a complete rebuild at the end of 2014 and were 5 years from...

The guy lost all his money and all his superannuation in 2010 from a failed business deal. At the time, the Saints would not offer him a long term contract and Fremantle would. Nettlefold told him that his position was not guaranteed beyond 2012. He needed to rebuild his life financially and had you...

Trains not running from many Melbourne suburbs due to works meaning 2hr+ trip, graveyard time slot with a 7.30pm finish on a Sunday. Reckon that accounts for about 10k+ supporters, especially those with kids who can't make it home so late on a Sunday night. It's a disgraceful time slot and I've rare...

Re: If Scott ends up as coach?...
I am also against Scott's appointment but it's based on comments from North Melbourne fans who couldn't wait to see the back of him. Their comments are: - Scott is extremely one-dimensional as a match day coach. Regularly other teams would get on a roll and it would be game-over for Nth. - His game ...

Re: potential membership numbers
Put it another way - there are hundreds of candidates available. Only two (Scott and Hird) will negatively impact member confidence. Do we really think either of them are that much better than the other hundreds of candidates that it's worth appointing them regardless? It's not like either of them a...

Re: potential membership numbers
Everyone is underestimating the hatred of Scott. On the St Kilda Instagram account, of the 500+ posts, at least a third are explicitly anti-Scott. Of the members I talk to who aren't on social media, I reckon at least half are emotionally and angrily against Scott being appointed. It will be a very,...

and his goal kicking was poor so we will still bomb it into the forward line. How quickly people forget. Harvey became the master of the 30 m pass to the lead up forward or player in space in our forward line. You hear the term now of lower the eyes. Players like Banger would have inspired that ter...

Re: Rob Harvey in the running for head coach role
To me, the two biggest knocks on Harvey (trying to assess him objectively) are that he hasn't coached a team in his own right and he comes across poorly in the media. The second can be rectified to some extent with training and effort but I wonder how it translates to his general communication style...

Agree that Caracella is surely a front runner - has had terrific success at the Cats and the Tigers. Was coached by Sheedy, Matthews and Malthouse and worked with Thompson, C. Scott and Hardwick. Pretty good credentials. Brett Kirk is an interesting one for mine. Has worked with Longmire and Lyon. D...

Re: Brad Scott to be announced as Saints coach in August
Reckon we'd lose 5k members if Scott is appointed. Talking to many supporters who are not part of online forums, they share the same view - Scott had ten years at North, he fell over the line into two prelims and overachieved but that was 5 years ago and he's done nothing since. He is widely dislike...

Iron clad guarantee that the St Kilda directors are not the sort of people who make a decision like this without running a proper, open process and doing extensive due diligence. There is NO chance of this happening. The directors are "cover your backside" people who will not be prepared t...

Not so much duplicity, but the facts were that richo was the coach for 2019, if only due to prior contractual decisions. so let's get on with it, put the best team in place around him and give it a crack. Results have fallen short of minimum standards, the contractual position will soon not be a fa...

Re: The season so far
I fully agree with this. I thought if we got to Round 10 at 5 wins and 5 losses, we would be tracking pretty well. With a bit of luck this week, that's where we'll end up. We have fielded the least experienced and second least experienced side in the AFL over the last three weeks. Injuries have been...

Worth every cent.
If Hannebery played one game for the Saints but it was a Grand Final where he was BOG, he would be worth every cent too.

Way to early to make a call. Plus the Hawks gave up much more for Jaegar than we did for Hannebery. Quote Alistair Clarkson last week: Clarkson said it would be at least another three years before the O'Meara trade, which involved the Suns gaining first- and second-round picks, could be assessed. &q...

We were still in the game against GWS midway through the 3rd quarter despite fielding the least experienced team in the competition this round (by quite a long way). Not unhappy with that as a sign of where we're at.

Was number 1 player on the ground on Saturday for pressure acts on either team.
If you're going through a rough patch and struggling to find the footy, being the #1 pressure player shows your commitment and desire.
Clark will be find, it's classic second year blues.

Petracca is pretty ordinary. He's certainly not worthy of pick 1 based on his career to date, but every recruiter seemed to have it as a choice between Petracca or Paddy as pick #1 that year. We may have stuffed it up but I'm not sure we'd exactly be rapt with the alternative either. The Tom Boyd th...
