Re: 2014 List Management - Draft & Trade Discussion
I'm still a big gwilt fan...he's our best/most consistent long kick coming out of defence (although newnes has really improved his option taking this year and websters also improved) and he's playing his best footy since the grand final year of 2010...the number of times he drills excellent left foo...

Re: Tommy Lee
Yeah i thought when he kicked a bag and Maister was struggling that was the moment to promote him, but the fact they didn't makes me think there is a longer term plan there...hopefully as i said, build up a great base and attack the 2nd half of the season full steam!

Re: Eli injured
Breaking the humerus is a really bad injury, very unusual from a rotation/twisting type mechanism in footy, more common in oldies. The wierd force and angle that went through to break a young mans arm must have been very unique. Looking at the slomo, it looked like a dislocation of the shoulder may ...

I was watching a couple of replays from the back end of last season and noticed how well Tom Lee seemed to be improving from his very ordinary start. By the time he played Freo in rd 23, he really looked the part at AFL level. I get that he had a disrupted pre-season (Shoulders i think), but so did ...

Re: Seb Ross
Have watched him really closely ever since he started and I'm hoping the coaches back him in and give him afl game time. I was reading something the other day on dunstan and how it took lenny Hayes 2-3 seasons to have a 20+ possession game. Ross is going to be a really solid unit physically, shows q...

From Richo's pressed "AR: Eli has broken his arm and won't come back tomorrow on the flight. He will have surgery next week.

Fingers crossed it is a break that doesn't require surgery, or if it does it is relatively uncomplicated...worst case would be fracture dislocation, really hope it's not a bad disloc shoulder requiring a reco...

Re: Shane Savage
I always thought he looked really pacy, sharp and a good finisher at the Hawks...unfortunately he hasn't set the world on fire 'yet', but I really hope it's just the adjustment to Richo's game style, probably hardest to adjust for those attack oriented wing type players...would be good if he does st...

Whilst not as bad at the start as last year, rain or not, night games in NZ become ridiculously slippery!! Happens every week in the rugby. I thought we might have handled it better given our experience from last year, but if anything Brisbane adapted better. When we did crank up our intensity and c...

Re: What ever happened to
Sounds as if Brodie Murdoch missed a fair bit of preseason with a very poorly documented (never on the injury list) groin injury i think (Hopefully not oseitis pubis) and looks to be slowly working back to match fitness, Simpkin sounds as if he's playing well in the VFL but as a key defender, if pro...

Re: Kudos for Adam Basil
I've been pleasantly surprised at the conditioning of the whole squad to date! And credit where credit is due. Was a little worried about Basil's philosophy towards balancing power and endurance coming from a pure sprint background, but the team looks to be running out games as well as any and our p...

Dan Markworth
Wondering if anyone saw Markwortth play in the VFL on the weekend. Looked like he played well in round 1, but not a mention of him anywhere after round 2. I didn't see a review of him in the VFL wrap and he's not on the injury list... hopefully he's tracking alright?? Cheers

I was starting to wonder exactly the same thing...not on the injury list, no mention in the VFL wrap of saints listed players... Hope he is back pretty soon, because he showed some good promise in his limited exposure last year!!

Re: Did Scott Watters...
Think they had similar plans to last year, try and sneak in the 8 whilst blooding kids half baked again! But early losses was what changed the focus. Look at the team rd 1. Not many kids. And to be honest I don't think any knocked the door down hard enough to demand selection anyways. The signals fr...

Re: List management conundrums...
Would love to see mcevoy trialled as a key backman! The matches he's played well in, bar none are the ones in which he's taken lots of defensive marks. Yes he's probably not quick enough, but given it could be a novel idea. He certainly always looks much more comfortable in the defensive 50. I recko...

Re: Our 15 Veterans in 2014
Not sure if Maister is contracted for next year, but I'd be moving him on. Lee has shown more than enough to warrant a genuine first crack for as much of next season as health permits. Likewise for Stanley up forward. I see these guys as our next forward combo once rooey retires. Throw in Siposs, ma...

Re: Round 18 Team v Geelong
I reckon this year has been really good getting games into a few key areas. As was mentioned earlier, we couldn't get a ruck man on the park last year for about 4-6 weeks mid season. This year Stanley is on track to chalk up near 20 games and end the year around 40 total, big boy has clocked up anot...

Re: team- Rd 11 vs Eagles
Once again, is it so difficult to just name the 22 for the weekend!! I can't stand the dishonesty (watters can't seriously think it puts other teams off by naming a massive bench, and then normally pulling in someone completely different anyway?!) as a supporter I just want to know based n form, tra...

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs
From what watters said through the media this week, it sounds as if he is keen to give his midfield a chance to learn from that early onslaught and bounce back. Does this mean many changes...to be honest I have absolutely no idea!! Selection has been all over the shop, I hope some of the players are...

Re: Matthew Watson (Carlton) - KPD
Thought Watson looked a decent player when playing for the blues last year. Not sure if he played FB, but he seemed to have good size, a bit of run and carry, and didn't look out of his depth at all. He may just be having some issues adjusting to the pace of the game. As we saw fergusen on the weeke...

Re: Webster Wright Roberton
I know wright is playing in a back pocket, but does anyone else think he is well suited as an in and under on baller in the future engine room? His build looks pretty well suited. Once he puts on some more beef, he looks like he'll be pretty powerful!

Montagna, Robertson, rooey, Steven, Siposs, hickey, saad, geary. Didn't think newnes or Ross had great games, I like them, just keeping the positives for tonight. Negatives, selection again confusing! Hayes reinjuring his calf; our poor conditioning again! Young and old alike look unable to run out ...

Re: Round 9 Teams - St Kilda v Western Bulldogs
Ray is a limited player and in the last two rounds he's missed crucial shots on the run which are a classic example of why I wouldn't be persevering with him, he's peaked and is now taking the place of a younger player IMO. There was an interesting thread posted elsewhere that commented on the benef...

Re: SCott's Presser video
Some of Watters selections are confusing and frustrate me a little but I guess that's just everyone saving different views. With the focus on youth, I'm not sure why we keep persisting in CJ, Ray, Maister, TDL as shuffle in shuffle out players. I would have thought these guys fit into 'solid at best...
