Re: Time Will Tell

If a professional footballer spends 5 days training and preparing and can’t get up for a game, it says something about the player. It’s their job to be up, it’s a non negotiable. Why the inconsistency? You have to consider the impact of the opposition. If they match our intensity around the footy, ...

Acres, Sinclair and Gresham really need to take some extra lessons

Re: Brad Scott to be announced as Saints coach in August

Agree they will head hunt, but the Board is responsible for running a multi million dollar business and not a regional tin shed footy club. CYA is required to show all stakeholders (AFL, current listed players,Saints members, supporters and sponsors) that the right person has been screened and selec...

Doubt it.

The club will be approaching people. ie Head hunting.

It is not like a candidate can come in from the blue. They know of everyone that would be suitable.

Re: Brad Scott to be announced as Saints coach in August

The Board must first get coaching applications from interested potential applicants. The question is who is available and/or out of contract? Who would have the ability to repair a damaged list, with all its injury issues and a playing list that hasn't been sufficiently disciplined in adhering to on...

Re: Another perspective?

:) A most interesting OP TTT :D For what it's worth, I've been dismayed at the way in which our opponents (not just Norf yesterday) always have players available to take a pass (whether by foot or by hand) Always appear to have time and space, and regularly carve ways through into our defensive fif...

Re: Rowan Marshall #1 ranked player in AFL since rnd 11

He (Marshall) needs another tall player to help out around the ground. What we lack is another tall to contest when we frequently bomb the ball out of defence. Note the Lions game, Martin and Oscar had a very good second half, with Marshall under pressure competing with them. We look slow and disorg...

Re: Coach in 2020 Who do you think it should be?

I’ll pbly get howled down for this but picking experienced assistants in Watters and Richo hasn’t achieved a great deal for us and demonstrated that experience is not the be all and end all. I want someone with fantastic leadership skills that ppl will follow, is a good communicator, knows what it ...

Re: Not a bad effort v Eagles

Josh Battle was superb and just getting better every game - he's the big plus for me tonight Agree, he has been a stand out this year, the only one of our young guns that is firing consistently. I wonder how he would go up forward, again we scored only 10 goals and badly need some height and footy ...

Re: We have the current worst injury list in the AFL

This time last year Collingwood had the longest injury list in the comp. They were 9th at 4-3. Many said they lacked depth and few rated them a finals chance. Play the hand you're dealt, find a way. It can be done. If you're good enough to be on an AFL list then you have the ability to perform at t...

Re: Same forward line entries

I've been to both interstate games this year.In total the Saints have kicked, in the combined first quarters, 3 goals 2 behinds against our opponents total 11 goals 4 behinds. This is not acceptable and shows that we are uncompetitive away from Melbourne. This has been an underlying theme for some y...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Crows Round 6 2019

When Bruce is having a quiet night our forward line are a pack of midgets making it easy for the Crows to clear and rebound. Our clearances and contested ball are shocking. Lift! having a quiet one? He's on one leg. If he was a horse they would put up the screens. We were too short on the forward l...

Re: VFL Rd 3 Zebras Vs Seagulls ( Williamstown)

Grundy is an even bigger asset than Marshall .... and he has been going it alone. Marshall will holler for help when he needs it.... and there are enough players to relieve him so he can take a breather during the game (like Acres, Membrey). We need as many runners as we can muster ... our game has...

Re: Marshall

7 clearances. Ben got one. Ceglar got one. Combined they got more than double Ro's hitouts but we won the clearances by plenty and he had a big hand in that. He's an extra mid and is mobile as all heck. Quite seriously I have not seen a ruckman like quite like him. He can handle the body work and i...

Re: Rod Galt RIP

I remember him coming on very late in the 71 Grand Final. Must have been 19th or 20th man. Had a couple of shots at goal, from memory, but the damage was done. RIP I was at the second semi final in 1971 when he ran into an open goal at the western Stand end and missed. Crucial miss at the time, he ...

I wish Rowan the very best of luck on Sunday. I'll be there cheering on a 15 game veteran against three Hawks ruckmen (Big Boy, Ceglar and Roughhead) with a combined 531 game experience. If we pull this one off and have a win it will go down as one of the Saints greatest victories in recent times. W...

Re: Changes for bombers

Reminder to some of the"experts" Pierce has played only 6 games and was a lone ruckman yesterday. This was an unreasonable task for a young ruck, terrible selection decision to have only one ruckman and ask your only tall forward to help out when Big Lewie was taking a spell. The Suns had ...

Re: Dunstan to Blues

I rate him. Plays for the team not individual glory. All great teams have players like Luke. Typical Saints to look at his weaknesses rather than his strengths. I hope we keep him because he has been used incorrectly and undervalued IMHO. If we trade him then it better be with Ratten’s blessing! He...

Re: Thoughts on 2019

After attending more than a dozen 2018 games and watching on the box, I can only conclude we are a basket case. I can't see where the improvement is coming from next year. Our coaching last night seemed non-existent. For example our kick out strategy, it's a short kick to himself then a long bomb to...
