It's battle of the coaches saints v blues

Post: # 1817253Post Rubyjo »

Will be super hard to beat the blues this round they are so pumped with their new coach and all.. But guess what Ratten is a former blue with more than one thing to prove.. Sacked by the blues as we know.. There is more on the line here than we know.. If the saints win this one Ratts is our man.

Good match ups everywhere. Steele will want to do a number on Cripps in his 100th.

Quietly confident the lads will get the job done. Saints by 23.

Seriously? If we beat Carlton, Ratts is our man? Carlton? No, if we'd beaten Adelaide maybe. But we didn't.

As someone else said - yes, we noticed that with North.

You are stupid if you think we will roll carlton.. Different fish.... There is no way I'd back the saints on this one.

You can't base what happened with North on what's going to happen with carlton.. Carlton are on the up talent everywhere... It's a different story altogether.

I love the cautious angst. The week everything went right hasn't happened yet. This is the week the penny drops and I'm confident we will end the year on a high note.

Settle down mate, we’re not playing 1980’s Hawthorn on Saturday.

This will be close, we're 1.85 and blues are 1.95.

I say we win by 11 pts

Blues are on the up, but then again so are we. They’re not to be underestimated, they’re going to be very good, but we remain a bit of a bogey side for them.

Yeah it’ll be a good game. I just think we match up really well with them and will get on top at some point tomorrow.

I think it will be close
They have more talent but only based on potential & all their low draft picks
If we play well enough we win

Coniglio has said no to us (allegedly) but is this game possibly the "Coniglio Cup" ?
If we win, does he then reconsider accepting our offer ?

As a player I wouldn't be very happy about someone earning huge $$ whilst I'm "only" earning say $600,000
BUT
If if it helps to win a premiership then I wouldn't have a problem who earns what

(easy to say as a spectator 8-) )

We've won 20 out of the past 26 against them - and going back even further we were one of only two teams to beat them (by ten goals!) in their last premiership year 1995, and the only team to beat them twice in that year!

Generally teams beat those below them on the ladder.

different players in all of those teams, its crazy to even compare.
Only thing in common is the names and colours.

why is Webster still in the Zebs?
He's picked in a back pocket for the Rd 20 game vs Port Melb

Last week was a bye, so he couldn't get match fitness,
is there a chance he'll play Rd 23?

And Arrmo isn't picked, even missing off extended bench

We've won our last five against 'em. That's recent history. My statement still stands.

Teague slaughtered Ratten in the battle !
That is unless Ratten was doing the right thing and try to and improve our draft position ( go kangas )

Ratten needs to make a statement this week with team selection if he wants the job.

He can not pick Newnes, Lonie, Carlisle, Paton or Savage next week.

Ratten didn’t coach well today.

Carlisle was a disaster, Bruce had to go far too high up the field. Marshall got a bath from Kruezer.

I thought Teague coached really well - manic, total pressure from a sound structure, even if they’re an ordinary team.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

To see us play so loose in the last quarter - in their forward line with three unmarked players was "very disappointing, and it was hard to feel pleased" ... we went quite flat, although we were also in it until the end. Jake at FF - just might not work!

This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.
