Geez it must be good to be a Swans supporter knowing your team can put in that sort of effort and pull out a victory.
Some bloke I've never heard of, kivks 7 straight to fill the Buddy void.
Well coached and coherent team.

You prefer the hawks got up?

Tom McCartin had 3 tackles.

Probably more than Paddy has had in his career thus far.

And the Swans will give us yet another touch-up this year.

It pisses me off that they've become our bogey team, along with Adelaide, Port, Geelong, Hawks, Kangas and West Coast.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

You do know that we were looking at Longmire but chose Ross Lyon.

I keep wondering what may have happened if we'd taken Longmire. Hard to say, both are very good coaches.

When the umps disallowed that mark to Roughead I knew The Parasites were going to win.

the player list is so diff..regardless of who is coaching. The Swans have been given a free ride for too long.

I’m sure Longmire is a better coach than Richo but let’s do a comparison of the teams after we’ve had 10 years of COLA followed by 5 years of an academy giving us the pick of the best youth in the state.

They had about 10 players off the rookie last playing last night.

Paddy averages the same amount of tackles per game this year as. Membrey and only .1 per game less than Carlisle. So it appears that our key position players don't tackle enough but then again we play a midfielder in Newnes who can't even average a tackle per match.

From what I saw of Tom McCartin in the under 18 ' he is a very different player to Paddy. Outside of them sharing the surname probably not a great comparison.

Where do they get these guys from?
7 x goals and 10 x tackles in his third game!
Arrow straight kick straight through the centre from an acute angle at a crucial point late in the game and 3 goals from another 19 y/o.
Even Parker nails the winner from a set shot under duress.
Stark contrast to what we endure watching every week.

It would have been horrible last week. Beaten at home in a terrible game.

Paddy averages less than a tackle a game. less than a goal a game. Less than 9 disposals a game.
Whatever 'type' of player' he is - it isnt an effective one.
Unless they change the rules to a 6-6-6 zone - he is in BIG trouble.

Unless they change the rules to a 6-6-6 zone - he is in BIG trouble with his playing style.

Even with a 6-6-6 I think his poor technique and head clashes and below par set shot goal kicking would prevent him being a good player.

Lets get realistic. He is in serious trouble. If he wasnt a pick 1 - we would all be writing him off.

He has all the ability to make it but concusions may take the decision away from us. Has all the tools to be an elite key forward.

McVeigh- the sort of composed senior player we lack. Got them out of trouble so many times, good on both sides, evasive, an accurate kick with the ability to either relieve pressure with the sideways kick or hit a target forward. Since Monty retired
we have Geary in that role. No comparison really.

Effort and skills - especially handballs. They go directly and long to players moving forward and don't dribble of the fist and land on the ground. Only Seb Ross and Blake Acres can handball with any distance. Compare and contrast the Saints team from 2004 - Robert Harvey, Lenny Hayes, Luke Ball, Andrew Thompson, Aaron Hamill and about ten others.

That choice didn't really matter at that time. Ross did alright but we didn't bleed in youth enough. I think I agree with that to some extent to get the game culture right. Once in place the young ones have a chance. Without it they will struggle and not get the true support need to develop into game changers in the future.

That is what was good about Rooey. He had the vision even from an early stage of his career when he said he and Kosi would take this club forward. Kosi got injured plenty too but other strong potential leaders were added in upcoming years like Goddard, Ball and by elite standards rather than leadership; Dal Santo, X Clarke (also injured heaps) and Lenny. The soldiers in the team from 2004 onwards generally knew their job well and executed.

Remember 2004? That was a very good year until round 11 when Grant chose that players take a break and go to the movies instead of a light training. Bullies were last but still won the game and the team became a little rattled to finish a lot lower but still do well to get to a preliminary final that we should have won if Gehrig's 100 drew a crowd to the playing area and the team lost their momentum. Even then we still nearly snatched it. That's strength of mind by the team and it takes the soldiers to perform to help with team confidence and eventually get there. A week is along time in footy. I would be surprised if a lot cant be resolved this year as long as some selection stability occurs and game plan understanding and execution also occurs. The kicking will improve with confidence if they can do it at training.

Fail to do the above and the coach would definitely go.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

The difference between our youngsters and theirs is good coaching and great leaders around them.
