What a great night to be a saints fan

Post: # 1667169Post The_Merchant »

The second song was fantastic. Have struggled to get into it before the game, but when the slow "oh when the saints" came out after tonight's game, it was saintsational. Everyone who was still there got into it and it sounded terrific. Great effort by the boys and for the supporters who were there, well done.

I loved that the crowd were really into the game. They cheered when Bruce hit a pack hard and then bounced up to try and tackle. They gave a huge cheer when Jake looked out of position and hustled brilliantly to beat 3 GWS players (and then ran straight back to position instead of milking the glory). People were appreciating that we were operating as a team without any glory towners.

Belief is an amazing thing. For the team and the crowd. As a supporter if you start to believe your team is the real deal a bit more, you start cheering more and trying to push them on. You are prepared to risk looking foolish to give your team support. We seem to be crossing that threshold.

We, the crowd, earnt several free kicks for the boys a la West Coast crowds.
The most notable were the "soft as" 50m penalty and that ridiculous deliberate decision.
