Lockett and Swans
Well I'm not knocking our old mate Tony ... but you'd have to say that his contribution hasn't made too much difference to the Swans fortunes in 2017. We saw interviews with the Big Man pre-season - I'd like to see an interview now. "So Tony what do you think of the side that's sitting on the bottyom with no wins?"

Re: Lockett and Swans
Yeh, no stamina at all. Only 13 years at St Kilda and only 6 ( 5 +1)as the Swans. Clearly must be fly by nighter.saynta wrote:Don't think he will hang around.
Usually doesn't.
% of players who last 13 years at one club? = Bugga All
% of players who last 6 years at one club = less than the majority
% of players who last 19 years in the AFL? = a tiny, tiny fraction.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

Re: Lockett and Swans
How's Sydney's goalkicking been? It's hard to win if your midfield isn't functioning, even if your forwards are sharpshooters. Ref us with Plugger in the 80s.

Re: Lockett and Swans
It just looked like the Swans gave Plugger a part-time job as some sort of favour to the big fella and to get some extra publicity.
So he turns up to training every few weeks to have a kick to kick session with Buddy and a few other forwards that they have. He was never going to revolutionise their game plan or anything.

Curb your enthusiasm - you’re a St.Kilda supporter!!

When are we going to understand that a great person doesn't necessarily make others great
Or
A tough person make others tough
So often I hear that we need to get so and so down there to teach them how to kickers...
It doesn't actually way
Players can be as great as you can get, and never be able to lead or communicate one iota of their ability
On the other hand an average player may understand every mechanical, psychological, strategic aspect of footy and how to improve it, and how to communicate it!
Coaching and playing are not mutually exclusive... but ability in both has little correlation either
