Marchbank & Ahern
What is the contract status of these two... who are not getting a game, yet were drafted two years ago as FRDPs
Marchbank is that 3rd tall we need to replace Sean
Ahern is another to add to the middle who can use it well
out of 2013 that would give us
3 - Billings, 10 - Freeman, 18 - Dunstan, 19 - Acres, Rookie - Templeton
and 2014
1 - McCartin, 6 - Marchbank, 12 - Ahern, 21 - Goddard, 22 - McKenzie, 41 - Lonie, Rookie - Sinclair
2015
Thats 14 players from 2 drafts
to combine with
Hickey, Membrey, Ross, Carlisle, Weller, Bruce, Newnes, Steven, Savage, Webster, Pierce
+
17 - Gresham, Rice , O'Kearney & White
and i'd look at Tomlinson
In my mind the delisted are
Saunders, Curran, Shenton,
Big decisions around
Gilbert, Lee, Minchington, Longer, Murdoch, Wright
one more to delist
possibly 2 for trade

Re: Marchbank & Ahern
Looks good to me in principle... All about what it takes to get them in the door, both for a third rounder and I'd go for - though not sure they would. But I do like the logic of the move and agree with those to be moved on or in doubtBigMart wrote:What is the contract status of these two... who are not getting a game, yet were drafted two years ago as FRDPs

Re: Marchbank & Ahern
Marchbank was GWS starting 22 before injury, wasn't he? There's a lot of buzz about him, in various press we're usually the first club linked to him, but the Pies are keen too from what I've read...hard to out-trade Collingwood unfortunately, although they're not looking that great right now (will improve with some returning players).

Pies will struggle at the trade table this year - they've already given away the pick we gave for Freeman, and their first rounder for Treloar, as well as a couple of father sons they'll need points for.degruch wrote:Marchbank was GWS starting 22 before injury, wasn't he? Ahern is really highly rated at GWS, and Marchbank is certainly a required player. I'd think we'd need to hand over our first pick to get them both, maybe with GWS 2nd pick coming back.

Re: Marchbank & Ahern
Very true, I forgot that. They may be happy to offload some midfield depth, but they're building bonfires out of spare elite midfielders at GWS.St Chris wrote:Pies will struggle at the trade table this year - they've already given away the pick we gave for Freeman, and their first rounder for Treloar, as well as a couple of father sons they'll need points for.
I'd like to see us use that top pick this time, I've got the jitters after Carlisle (although required). If we do move it on I'd prefer to see it with GC as part of a Prestia trade.
Re: Marchbank & Ahern
I think Prestia is a bit more of what we've got plenty of
Short mids
Steven, Dunstan, Gresham, Sinclair, Michington, Billings, Templeton, Ross, Armo
We need a utility back
And we need a taller mid imo

Re: Marchbank & Ahern
You'd move him pretty close to the top of that lot straight away, sharp around goals too. We'd be better off chasing him than JoM, surely?BigMart wrote:I think Prestia is a bit more of what we've got plenty of

Re: Marchbank & Ahern
Both have had injury issues.
No evidence they are not wanted by GWS at this stage.

Re: Marchbank & Ahern
Well both Marchbank and Steele are out of contract
But were not the only ones looking
Marchbank

And of course Carlton looking to get multiple players again

We'd be doing pretty well if we could get both Marchbank and Steele
