Love Paddy. Some of his early disposal in that video looked a bit ordinary, but can't fault 13 marks.
Did seem like he dished off to others rather than going back and slotting the goal from what you would think was in range for him.

Very strong game. Thirteen marks and dominated by all accounts. Is it enough to get a recall?

Dem hands. He doesn't take a lot of chest marks - his hands are so good he takes them with his dukes out nearly every time which means he's in a position to dish off quickly which Richo would love.

Geez I hope he's as good. Initially Dunstall was seen as slow and didn't seem to have a lot of tricks. Thing with him was that he had a good footy brain. Not overly big and didn't take pack marks. Took a lot of diving marks and took a lot on the lead. I see lots of similarities.

Thought that as well. I wonder about his confidence in goal kicking. Maybe the club gets someone to help him out with it. Maybe a Lloyd or someone similar to get his routine right and confidence up. Couldn't hurt.

He's better than Dunstall. In fact almost on par with Plugger. I expect Paddy to win a Brownlow by the end of next season

Plugger and Dunstall

2600 goals between them

If Paddy kicks 500 I'll be happy

Looks like Paddy has been told to kick a few sausage rolls for Sandy. Short term can't see him getting back in unless Membrey fails to touch it.

He had a day out for Sandy last week. Thirteen marks and dominated by all accounts. Kicked only two but gave quite a few away. The highlights at the start of this thread are quite impressive.

Any case, what I'm getting to is I hope the club doesn't see Paddy and Membrey as mutually exclusive.

Membrey's an in between size who can play tall and small, the ideal foil for Bruce and Paddy.

I'm looking forward to seeing all three in the same forward line, which is very achievable with Rooey in career-best form upfield and just playing the odd cameo forward

Unless he was told to play as a high CHF then he should be kicking goals. I don't see the point of him taking marks on the half back line

Lots of reasons. Imagine that the Saints are 3 points up with 45 seconds to go in Grand Final. Maybe they send Paddy back who takes the saving mark because he has learnt how to do so.

He is being developed as a player, and that includes for him to learn more about the game than just patrolling the goal square.

No one bats an eylid about the Hawks spending years developing players in their reserves, but at the Saints too many are too impatient to have our kids learning their craft in the first or only ina set role.

When he loses his puppy fat and turns it into muscle - he'll become the stay-at-home forward - that's probably the plan?

Until then he can be "Paddracca", build a tank, get his 20 kicks around the ground, create goals and kick the occasional one himself.

This way we have the best of both worlds - we don't think that we've missed out!

Are you kidding me?

Are you saying he will learn more by taking marks on the half back line?

Better that he spends time in the forward line learning how to take pack marks there.
