St.Kilda v Collingwood - Round 3

Post: # 1605417Post prwilkinson »

After reading plenty of negativity about last weekend's loss to a rampaging Foo-tis-cray, I think it's time to clean the slate and look towards a sunny Saturday afternoon at the MCG against the Collingwood footy Club.

Who is going to the game? It's a big day for the footy club!

Who do you think should come into the side? Acres, Minch etc?

Who will be dropped? Gresh?

What are we going to do to stop Collingwood and get the 4 points?

What positives will you be looking for even if we don't get the win?

Does anyone know what club functions will be on? Where abouts will the social club be etc.?

Things I will look for are hitting targets.
Laying tackles that don't allow an easy handball out to their teammate (happened a lot on the w/e)
The servers that hold this website catching fire if we get spanked by the pies.

Absolutely agree with all 3. No soft tackles on Saturday.

I think Webster will stay in.
He didn't play that well against the dogs but who did?
He remains one of the few players who normally has accurate disposal -something we need!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'd hate for it to turn ugly.

What will happen if Collingwood beat us by a considerable margin, the site will go off?

I like Webster but that pass he did into the forward fifty that went straight to the opposing where we were just a couple down in the third quarter reall pissed off the coach ...as seen on TV ...Lee has good disposal as well with a little more height . i think Lees disposal albeit in the seconds is pretty good so may not be losing much.

I remember that. I think I went on a rant for about 20 seconds after that one about disposal. Actually, I can think of 3 or 4 where I went on a rant because of how badly they just coughed the footy up.

And I think that is primarily because a lot of the posters on here may have slightly delusional aspirations for this season - especially in light of the fact that we still don't have a CHB in the side with the result that we are still getting scored against heavily and opened up during extended periods of a lot of matches. It happened against Port, and it happened against the Bulldogs.
If we win 5-7 games and the thrashings stop I will be relatively happy this year. If we can swing 2 or 3 picks inside top 20 I would be very optimistic for our not too distant future.

My worry with Webster is that he doesn't use his body well and seems easy to bump out of marking contests, although has good disposal, needs to play a lot closer to his man- pretty loose for a defender.

Webster is probably in the top 2 or 3 for foot speed in our side at the moment.

Lee would be in a 3 horse race with McCartin and Seb Ross as to who comes last.

Cannot drop a very quick, medium defender for a slow, 3rd man up type. Lee comes in for Dempster or Fisher if he is any chance. Which I think he's not.
