He was a really nice kid and pretty much like he was in the interview. He seems very shy so good to hear he gets going on the footy field.

He's really humble and sweet, the guy next to me asked who he played like and he couldn't think of a comparison. When I said his highlight reel looked like Farren Ray- good overhead and turn of speed, he was really chuffed and said how he thinks highly of Farren Ray. Very respectful and well mannered. He seems like he was well parented.

Very impressive! I have big hopes for him and think he might have slipped under the rader behind McCartin and Goddard in terms of publicity.

But as pick 22 we should be hoping for something pretty special. As an example Nat Fyfe was picked up at Pick 20.

Appears also a definite leadership contender in the future.

I'm excited about the future! Bring it on.

I'm very pleased we got him. He has the potential to be elite. Another good "mover" we've picked up.

I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Great insight. You would like a Club full of these types of guys. As others have said, quiet, but he must have a strong drive to get where he has so far.

Looking forward to his positive progress this year.

This is not aimed at you bratty - but supporters in general and the club (they posted the childhood photos on their website).
Hugh is not even BJs cousin. They are second cousins. That is quite a long way removed imo. I don't even know some of my second cousins.
If I was Hugh I would be annoyed with all the comparisons and the 'cousin' thing.
Yes they have the same name but so what. I look fwd to Hugh Goddard being just Hugh Goddard. His own man
I mean its not a big deal and Hugh probably doesnt really give a sh*t. But it would be a mild annoyance if people keep bringing it up.

I'm sure Hugh will be his own man soon enough at the club.
Interesting that Richardson said on the SEN interview yesterday that he sees Goddard as being 'Cloke size' in future.
He's definitely one we need to come on well over the next couple of years to be a linch pin down back.

What does that mean in simple terms?

Cousin of a cousin, nephew of a cousin??

Hugh's dad and Brendon are first cousins (at least what I've gathered from the media).

Brendon’s cousin is Hugh’s dad’s Craig, a seemingly distant connection in most families but not so in the Goddard clan.

“Brendon has been great for me over the journey, especially over the last two years,” Goddard said.

“Obviously he went through the draft and all the underage stuff himself so he gave me some great advice and we still catch up to play golf fairly regularly.”

With a string of excellent VFL performances behind him, the 18-year-old was considered an outside chance to debut against Essendon three weeks ago. Although it did not eventuate, Goddard said playing against his second cousin would be a ‘surreal’ experience.
They are first cousins, once removed not second cousins as the article states. If Brendon had a kid it would be a second cousin of Hugh's.

Damn, I've been telling everyone he will be the better of the Goddards. Hope I haven't set the bar too high.

Is BJ a biological Goddard???? I don't know just asking. :? :?

BJ when he was recruited his 'father' at that time was his step-father. Now was he actually Mr Goddard, and Brendon took on his name. Or was BJ's biological father the Mr Goddard. :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

The family tree gets very confusing in todays tendency to divorce/ or re marriage and start blending families.

HG comes across as a fairly bright spark. Can't wait for him to get the big call up.
