A reminders good. How quick I forget. He doesn't look half bad in those highlights.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:

Re: Perhaps a reminder of why we should pick him up again?
He stopped doing that after a little while.
I could never see why he became so ineffective so quickly.
Couldn't take a mark couldn't get near the ball. Couldn't tackle (after making 10 in one of his early games) and couldn't run away from anyone chasing him.
But if the coaching staff can sort that out I'd love to have him back.

Do we really need a silly boy who doesn't even check with the club before downing a so called energy drink on match day?
Old enough to repaint, but young enough to sell

No we don't. But I'm inclined to trust that he won't ever make that mistake again. And I can see him being a real reminder to everyone else the effect that a mistake like his can have.

It was a dumb mistake but he has done his time and I don't think this kind of mistake should end an AFL career.
And yes we do need him.

No needed but will be rookied. Don't see the point because by the time he plays AFL footy he will have missed nearly 2 years unless we have a LTI and even then he has to be ahead of all of rookies. Not that good to miss nearly 2 years of AFL footy.

Rookied as a PR stunt?
That's my guess. He is just another GOP

I think he should be seriously considered.. got skills and goal sense, and really in a team line ours that has played a season of woeful football, we need all the class we can get..and beggars can't be choosers.

He also claims to be 'super fit' as a result of his time off.
Whether this is him attempting to gain interest from the (/a) club or an attempt to display his eagerness to continue his footy career is yet to be seen.
I for one would push my body to its absolute limits if I knew in 2 years time I had the opportunity to rejoin a football team

You don't lose your ability though you can lose your confidence…avid wrote:He stopped doing that after a little while.

Have to remember that he has only played 29 career games, consistency doesn't come straight away and is very difficult to achieve playing as a small forward.
For all the excitement about Templeton, if he get anywhere near Saad's 45 goals in the next 2 years he will be doing amazingly well.

I watched a replay of the Carlton game recently and I realised how quickly you forget how good players were. He was absolutely dominant. He did the milne tricks but also was marking out on the lead and converting from long range. I couldn't help imagining what could have been. He would have developed into something special IMO. His second year was a fall away but you never know what was injury or other stuff in a players life. I would rookie him and see what he could do. Gilbert will give a spot up from his LTI. He then only has to be ahead of the really young rookies. I assume we give the spot to Mav that opens up.

Re: Perhaps a reminder of why we should pick him up again?
Yes, people forget how very good he was early on, others forget that he did struggle more and more in his second year.
I don't know, but suspect much of that second year blues could've actually been from worry, knowing about the imminent announcement of his energy drink stuff-up(?)
Ahmed always seemed very dedicated anyway, and would now be even more determined to succeed... and would be wiser. (And might even have grown a left leg. )
As for a PR stunt...? I'd be very happy with that sort of PR 'stunt' by our club.

More likely to be rookied I'd say, as we've upgraded three to the primary and won't have many spots available.matrix wrote:do you reckon he will be around in the 60s and 70s picks?

Re: Perhaps a reminder of why we should pick him up again?
Averages 9 touches and just over a goal a game.
That was on a downward trajectory once he was isolated and more closely checked.. With Milne gone, and us being a weaker team, he will get even more attention than when he last played..
Don't think he is up to it to be honest, has a few tricks, but doesn't really have the game sense...
Would much prefer to see Eli and Minch develop in the small forward role, progressing into the midfield..
Seems like a lovely guy and works his butt off, just don't think there's any upside that can benefit our team into the future..

agreed, tried him and I think we can cover his position, still I wish him well.
You are garbage - Enough said
Re: Perhaps a reminder of why we should pick him up again?
Interesting to see in those highlights that he was playing 3rd fiddle to Milne and Schneider.
Still, I'm open to rookie-ing him.

Thanks. Easier than I thought. I thought I was going to have to watch the whole Brisbane game. SW at his best that day.
