Listening to Robert Shaw on SEN this morning got me thinking. Asked by (alleged) saints fan Mark Fine how GWS could fit Tom Boyd into the same forward line as Cameron & Paton, Shaw was very evasive of the question and tried successfully to change the subject.

Cameron would be too expensive. Boyd & Paton are both Eastern Suburbs boys who might want to come home. It appeared to me that Shaw knows something and doesn't want to talk about it. My gut feel is that Essendon are already into Boyd. Is there any chance we could trump them? !!

Dont get the alleged bit about Finey. Seems very passionate about the Saints when i speak to him. Radio is about ratings. Wouldnt take that to seriously. As for Boyd well we have more chance than most clubs because of the picks we will have. Not sure whether Shaw would have any real in at Essendon so i doubt he knows much more than us.

It's going to be interesting to see how the three forwards fit into the team, if GWS manage to get it to work successfully will it be the first time that has ever happened?

If it doesn't work out you would think that Patton and Boyd would fight for the same spot and if that happens then you would think that the loser would be shopped out...Patton's knees could probably have the biggest say in how the strategy plays out.

If Dangerfield becomes a Saint then the rebuild has moved much quicker with the kids showing way above what would be expected early on.

That is one way to look at it, if I was the devils advocate I would say that he was a passionate Saints man who took action in a public forum to get the right result for the club.

At the end of the day the club moved on Watters and appointed the person he was wanting for the role. Another possibility is that the club was considering making a change and leaked out information for it to make the pulic airwaves. A bit like the AFL and governments do.

I have met Finey and shared a beer with him and watched the odd game in his presence and he is one of the more passionate St Kilda people I have met, having said that if he were it an acquaintance of a friend of mine I would not go out of way to associate with the guy as he can be a nasty piece of work.

Name dropping? Finey? You are damned if you do and damned if you dont one here. If I said I heard something people would want to know off who and then when you say you know someone you are a name dropper. Well dropping Finey name is hardly name dropping. He is involved at my footy club every week so i know him. Big friggin deal. Just said that I reckon from hearing him outside of radio that he loves our club. I could drop much bigger names than him if i wanted to. Sandilands for one. maybe its better to say a friend of friend. means jack and sounds like jack.
