Margetts umpiring Sunday

Post: # 1257669Post asaint »

Should I even bother turning up after the disgraceful prejudice he displayed against us/Milney during the C'wood match? Or does he just save his best work for C'wood matches.

1. Close eyes when Milney gets scragged off the ball
2. Free kick to Carlscum if an opponent even dares to lay a finger on a Blue
3. Pay lots of frees to Carlscum at the clearances
If the 3 Blind Mice do their job, after the game they get a big box (Visy cardboard) of Chicken Wings

Margetts is just another idiot foot soldier to be sent out on execution duties. The AFL have just recently announced that they are promoting acceptance of homosexuals, the word was sent out to catch a villain to punish. The empire needs a sacrifice every now and again. Let's hope he's after a "kindness to poultry" or "leave arms alone" next and the Blues might have to sacrifice Juddy for a few more games. At least when they put him on the back cover they can pull out the Valdermort shots again.

When I first started barracking for the Saints in 1960, when I was 8, I always believed that Umpire Frank Schwab had it in for us. I was so angry after the first semi when Footscray beat us in the first Semi by 9 points. I was sure it was Schwab's fault and I cried myself to sleep.

As time went by, I grew older and matured into an adult and realised that umpires were human and they made mistakes just like clubs, footballers and supporters.

I understand your feelings and your anger but you will all get older and reach adulthood eventually and you will then realise that if our players are good enough we will win despite the errors of umpires.

I must compliment you and your teachers as you all spell and write well. You are a credit to our education system for being able to write so well for such young students.

Well done and keep up the good work.

If the government is investigating Danny Nicolic for race fixing at Cranbourne, they should be consistent and investigate Margetts performance against Collingwood.

Well thank you for your kind words my good sir, but please let me tell you a slightly unhinged paranoid demeanour is what makes being a Saints supporter great. All umpires are not human they are a pupal form of the housefly which are wriggled into increasingly garish spandex and poked out onto our fields to persecute us every week.

Did I hear correctly that a former Carlton player was umpiring today's match?

He did have it in for us. He umpired the 1971 GF. It should have been Bill Deller. We would have won.

I like Jordan Bannister as an umpire. He, rightly in my opinion, chose not to penalise about ten tit-for-tat whacks between players. Dean Margetts was OK today. Alas, umpire Jeffrey didn't seem on the same page as the other two. But two out of three ain't bad.

Not sure our coach was too impressed with one or more of them today. Absolutely eyeballing the umps at three quarter time.

I think you will find that it was umpired by Peter Sheales.

Yep, you're right. He umpired like Frank Schwab.

Back in those days, if Sheales or Jolley was announced for our game I just assumed we were going to lose.

Coates was bad too.

It is a fair bet that not one of them will be umpiring in the AFL this weekend.

Scott Jeffery was an absolute EFFING Joke yesterday!

Touch little b**ch isn't he?

Doesn't like any hard stuff or a player telling him the truth!

Who payed the first 50 against Joey. The one that turned into a 100m penalty and a goal. Absolute disgrace. What are you meant to do when an opposition player throws the ball infront of your feet. Joey had every right to be pi$$ed off and speak his mind.

Yep...That was up there in the "worst decision of the year" award.
In speaking your mind to an umpire, though, you need to be aware that it will have consequences.

Patrick Keane‏@AFL_PKeane

Congrats to Jordan Bannister for being selected to be part of the AFL finals panel in his debut year as an AFL umpire.
