Strangely familiar finals series...
Firstly I am very disappointed in us not making the finals this year.
There is however, a more relaxed feeling I haven't felt for sometime moving into September - the weight of expectation and anticipation is gone!
I can sit back and watch the finals series, laugh at every losing team and barrack for my least hated side to win.
Reminds me of watching footy through my entire childhood at Moorabbin... Ahh to be blissfully unattached!
As a life long Saint I need to put things into perspective like this as mental therapy.
Think I'll trim that hedge ... that overgrows every year.

I might spend some time with my wife and see if I can get to know her.
I'll start off with, "you're right sweety, I shouldn't spend so much time watching the football"

Pretty much this. Once Hawthorn bows out, my interest in 2012 is pretty much zero. Anywone but Geelong or Collingwood would be ideal though.saintspremiers wrote:Go Hawks!

I'll be ok watching my least hated sides for the first few weeks of the finals, however I'll probably tune out for the GF - don't fancy watching another club celebrate what cruelly fell from our grasp...

I hate the off season. I just can't get into the cricket anymore. I don't know what it is.
I would prefer it if they had footy all year round - like a summer league or something. Maybe they can play the VFL in summer.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:

The Big Bash League is excellent. But only lasts a month.
Agree though in general cricket is not as exciting now as it was years ago.

Maybe it is you with the cricket. They certainly score quicker now in all forms of cricket. Big bash will fade as well when the younger kids get bored with it.

Ditto. Footy has lost me for 2012. One game to go and I'm out. But there is still plenty to keep me going until next year...stevie wrote:Won't be watching any of it at all - zero interest
I will occupy myself with supporting the Storm throughout the finals and following the A-League (Victory Ole) not to mention the return of the Saints to the Premier League after 8 long years in the wilderness. I'm hopeful of getting down to Melbourne for a bit of the Spring Carnival too. There is also the Summer of Cricket, the BBL in particular for me, plenty of action in the F1, the US Open and Australian Open and the list just goes on and on...

I give myself a challenge of how long I can go by avoiding all media when he finals start. It's an interesting challenge.
I don't watch the news or read papers so avoiding headlines on the net is the priority.
In 2007, I didn't know who had the Norm Smith till the Tuesday after the GF, and that was by accident.

cannot support any side that has beaten us in a GF, so Adelaide, Hawks, Pies, and Geelong out! Freo out for obvious reasons, Sydney out 'cos Plugger ended up there - leaves West Coast and North. Think I'll go WC, maybe will be a little less hungry next year when they will have an even better side.

I live in Adelaide. I could imagine nothing worse than a Crows grand final win, especially this year. Worst supporter base. Thankfully this is an unlikely possibility.
Re: Strangely familiar finals series...
I'll watch until the end, just love footy! Happy for mates etc who's teams do well also! Think Hawthorn or Collingwood win it!
Maybe this year?
