Outstanding performance from limited opportunities. Probably his best ever game interstate. Has turned it around after a slow start to the season. Full marks Milney!

Man alone today. All but one of his goals from outside 60?

Continues to be the only RELIABLE source to goal in this team - every other forward in the team should hand you their pay packet today Milney

Well it has been an accurate assessment for most of his career. He's turned it around over the last three or so years.

He was very good today and kicked the pressure goals when he had to.

I reckon someone at the saints actually went on the ground with a tape measure and figured out that the "50" is probably only about 45 metres going by the times we had a shot "way out".

For a player who apparently had a poor start to the season he now has another 40 goals for the year. Please play on next year Milney, we are really going to struggle to find a replacement.

He played a ripper today and I really thought he was gunna get us over the line when he nailed his 5th, sadly there were just too many passengers.

I dont understand the issue with Riewolts knees but his work ethic doesnt wane despite this. The trouble with this appears to be lack of confidence to kick straight. He needs to take the time off to get this fixed if it is a continual problem. The team will learn and play without him if required. I hope he is not playing injured as mentioned in the commentary today. Its not good enough in todays game to do that. I love Nick;s effort but if this doesnt realise goals whats the point in him being a forward?

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Milne was great.

But he needed to kick 10 today. Shame he couldn't kick 5 in the middle quarters.

Bit like the plugger days. A one man forward line.

Don't even have to look back that far. Milne virtually played FF around 2001-02.

Stupid post. Everytime he played in finals he let us down. What comes to mind here is the 2009 Grand Final.

good also that he leapfrogged jetta in the race for most goals as a small forward:

40: Milne
37: Jetta
36: Betts
30: Breust
29: Rioli
28: Thomas
26: Hill
25: Nahas, Davey

he'll have to kick a lot more to lock in the all-australian forward pocket - jetta's done more than just kick goals - but he's got a good chance in the games against dogs, melbourne and gws.

If he kicks 60 again and provides an almost tall option and a direction option at that I see no reason why he would not receive his 2nd AA gong.

I admit I had been saying this should be Milneys last year and he should go out on top..... I have changed my view. He can go around again next year. He is a gun - and at the peak of his powers. a >50 season means go again.

So does a 40 goal season too.

Although they are just numbers, sheesh it is an amazingly consistent performance for a small forward to kick 50+ something like 5 years in a row. An utter champion, legend and just plain nice guy and geez we are going to miss him when he does retire.
