Window officially closed??

Post: # 1231349Post 8856brother »

Dwayne Russell just made the statement on AW. He never has anything nice to say about us. I think we all agree we are going "ok" at the moment, but do we think he is right?

When will we again be a genuine contender?

This year? Next year? 5 - 10 years time?

I personally believe we are good enough to match it with any sides this year but we have shot ourselves in the foot by losing too many games we should have won already. Don't think we can win from the bottom part of the 8. That's as good as I think we can finish this year.

I am more excited about the next fews years than I was pre season though. Saying that, I believe we still have a fair wait ahead of us.

Nothing we're not used to.

It's so prehistoric to even talk about premiership windows.

Sorry. It was brought up on radio by a consistant Saints basher. Though it was interesting. Obviously not.

SainterK is right, the whole concept of "premiership windows" is an outdated media construct, not even worth worrying about...

im effing peeved about friday nights game.
we won that and we would have been flying high today. cruising into a week off and dreaming of the ultimate.

we will need to find some rich form to get back now. stanley and saad are the keys to the season now.

Without disrespecting those 2 players if they are the keys to the season then we are in real trouble.

A lot of people said the Eagles were about 5 years away from a premiership less than 18 months ago, and i remember Adelaide being written off last year. Things can change very quickly with some canny recruiting and a few youngsters developing quickly.
Next year we should see all of Newnes, Milera, Saad, Stanley, Cripps, Ledger, Sipposs, Simpkin, Steven getting regular games and then possibly Ross, Dunnell, Markworth slotting in for a few as well.
I think we have an extremely bright short term future.

Oh and by the way, Russell is a knob of the highest order!!

I wouldn't mind closing a window on Dwayne's massive planet.

Dwayne Russell? Who cares?

Even if we were up by 10 goals in the GF with 8 seconds left he'd be saying there's still time for the other team, and that our window might still be closed.

Who cares. We are playing attractive footy.

I look forward to watching us play this year as opposed to hoping we will be watchable.

Our losses to Richmond and Adelaide were more enjoyable to watch than many of our wins last season.

Tell me you are joking? Surely any win is better than an attractive loss. You play footy to win and not to win a beauty contest. Maybe on am on my own but I found nothing enjoyable in both those losses.

Personally I believe our window is shut, only for this year. It'll re-open in 2013!

Some of or games last year were awful. Hard to get excited winning a game by kicking 9 goals to 7.

The Tigers game was exhilarating. Adeliade game
Not as much but both were highly entertaining.

Why bother listening to Dopey Dwayne. If you want to put his credentials into perspective, he'd be still working for the Geelong Advertiser if it wasn't for the untimely deaths of David Hookes & Clinton Grybas !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Don't know about the season but Saad was crucial to us last Friday. Forward line went back to it's old disfunctional self without him.
