Nicky's mark of 1987

I found a 6 second clip on YouTube.

Type in 'Winmar grab'.

Can't link it direct from my 'pod.

Hopefully one day we can find more vision of it. I saw it on 'The Winners' that year so surely it would be in the ABC vaults?

If anyone is good at converting VHS to AVI I have heaps of old Saints video, back to the days when we were know as the Southern Saints! I am sure these have the Winmar mark along with some other goodness. If there is a conversion expert out there who would like to have a crack at converting these old tapes send me a PM.

between 86 to 89ish the Club Sold copies of games that they filmed themselves with callers like Aurther Higgins and yes even a young eddie did a few games too

That's the one in The Point Of It All, albeit a split second later.

Not sure if it's 'our' mark - seems like a Richmond jumper? Also, watching the brief footage of the speckie, there's 2 other players involved and they would be visible in the photo.

The footage I remember seeing on The Winners was short but you saw all of it.
I wrote in my diary at the time - Nicky took Mark of the Decade.

Does anyone have footage of his mark over the Eagles (Ashley McIntosh I think) for Mark of the Year (I think)? I used to have a picture of it from the West Australian laminated on my wall but somehow managed to lose it...

Pretty sure that the mark in the youtube clip is not the one in the picture

The mark in the youtube clip was vs Essendon and the player that Winmar took a ride on is Simon Madden dead smack in front of the animal enclosure

If that is the mark then after he took it Winmar received about a 30 second standing ovation before he kicked it

Remember thinking that it was the greatest mark I have ever seen at the time - the fact that it was over Simon Madden made it all the more spectacular

Shame that it is the only footage they had of the mark - the game itself was only shown in grainy highlights on the tv so the mark seems all but forgotten / missed in any spectacular mark packages

I have known to be wrong though
