FEVOLA?

Post: # 1107284Post prwilkinson »

Anyone keen on the club throwing Fevola an AFL lifeline in 2012? Kicked 11 yesterday...

He grew up supporting the Saints.... we wouldn't have to pay him much... He could be a gamble that pays off handsomely... pardon the pun.

No way. To much trouble, would be like getting a Lovett all over again. He cant control himself

I love this club

11 goals against Frankston is nothing to write home about.

Not in this lifetime! Just plain dumb to recruit him as we need to BUILD a side with good YOUNG players. Honestly, with all the heartburn we've had with Lovett in the past 18 months why would anyone with a skerrick of sense contemplate such a move?

Don't even consider it. Ben Cousins was a different propect. Fevola is not worth the risk and the likely disruption he will cause.

I'd rather Tom Lynch get a run of games. 8-)

Roo Tom Gamble Milne

Ben Kosi in the ruck

We don't need him.

However if he doesn't get picked up, I actually wouldn't be against him popping down as a kicking coach for the forwards at times.

No. Tommy Walsh kept him goalless, and Tommy cant even get a game.

Fevola was kicking goals in the AFL too. It had no bearing on the reasons why he was traded out from one club and sacked from the other.

By the time he can mount any kind of case that he won't be a destabilising force at an elite club, his playing days will be over.

Haven't seen the draw for 2012 yet.

But if we get 22 games against Frankston, I say grab him

I'd consider it.

Minimum wages, late draft pick.

We havnt got much else running around in the seconds...

I have been dead against this up til now, but I'm thinking that someone is going to get some value out of him next year. Might be worth a punt?

I'm tipping that Ross would be very nervous at the prospect, so very unlikely to happen.

Would make it a pretty good investment though!

Will Johnson, 191cm, same height as Fev - just needs to put on 10kg or so...

Stuff it. Why not.

Allows Roo to roam up the ground.

Brings the party back to the Saints.

I'm on it.

I would give him a go at pick 90 or something, we may have one last crack in 2012 with a bit of luck. Fev would be a genuine 3 to 5 goal a week forward and was going well at Brissie before the melt down.

If he has genuinely turned his life around and showed that he was fit enough, then I wouldn't have a major problem with it, if we consider ourselves a premiership chance next year.
The fact that he's wanted to play for us for years would increase the chances of it working, as he would be extremely keen to impress and not stuff up. The fact he would be well aware that it would be his FINAL chance would also help with that. The fact that he's now back near family is also likely to have been extremely beneficial for him.
Some are comparing him to Lovett. Lovett was convicted of assulting someone in a car for 30 minutes, wasn't he and now is on trial for rape. What has Fev done to compare with that?
He had/has addiction problems that he's admitted to and is seeking help for them and now has a job and is apparently doing charity work. Pretty much everything that it was widely suggested he do to get his life back on track he's doing. He's apparently also lost a heap of weight and is now kicking goals in the VFL.
Tom Hawkins wasn't kicking 11 goals in the VFL and yet he's back into the Geelong team and being lauded for kicking 3 for them on the weekend. If Fev can kick 11 in the VFL he could certainly kick goals in the AFL, if Hawkins can.
Imagine what we'd say if someone on our list kicked 11 goals for Sandy???!!!
If Roo continues to struggle and we don't get someone like Mitch Clark, then getting Fev may be the thing that wins us a flag next year.
Having said that, I'd also love to see T Walsh played at FF in the seniors, to see how he'd go there, on dry grounds, with delivery to him from the likes of Dal Santo and Goddard.
"Fortune" favours "the brave".
