Trades

Post: # 1011016Post FQF »

Most clubs have left Etihad Stadium after day one of #tradeweek Collingwood, Adelaide, Richmond, Saints and Gold Coast still inside.
So Collingwood have got Tarrant and Fraser

Adelaide seem interested in quite a few players

Richmond have Tambling

GC are looking for a few as well for draft picks.

But what the hell are we still doing there with the last few teams to leave???

Should we be sensing a surprise?

They have the Harbrow compensation pick to trade with.

It's around mid 20s so it could possibly do the job.

I made mention of it before, I think we should have a real go at the 3 Carlton players who want out.

Grigg

Hampson

Walker

We should also consider Salopek, Everitt and Sherman.

That would add the much desired pace and skill, as well as a back up ruckman or a replacement for Gardi if he indeed retires.

Trade bait would be the following:

gram

armitage

peake

Clarke/Kosi (reluctantly)

Yeah, I was aware of that but it was mentioned
today somewhere that Salopek still wanted out, and Port may be willing to use him as trade bait.

Are any of those players it is suggested that we chase, any better than the ones suggested for trade bait? I think I would prefer to hang onto our own.

I think you are spot on, in most cases the trades are not huge improvements on the player leaving,

Motlops a class act with the ball, but probably the laziest most undisciplined player of the modern era. Don't see him fitting in with us. He is also injury prone..

He is also selfish with the ball.

Great kick though, and can do the unbelievable.

I don't think we need his type anyway.

Would love to get Shermo but it looks like he's off to the Dogs with an offer we can't match. But he could add some well needed pace, good kicking skills and goal sense to our half forward line- as well as providing a midfield rotation.

Motlop may have been worth a punt 4 or 5 years ago, but not now.

How about young Djerkah (pardon spelling) from the Cats? Was rated very highly when he was at school with Cyril Jnr.

from the Australian story, its a doubt that we will do any trades. we will be using the draft to bring in teenagers

Djerkurah was really highly rated when drafted, he just never seems to have pushed for a spot. Heaps went in before him. You would think he'd have got a place this season if he was going anywhere with his career.

Sherman is a good player even if his running style is freaky, Dogs have some good kids coming through too. They will go ok next season.
