Well done to Rory and the Club

Post: # 909439Post Enrico_Misso »

Last week the club rang up to say that my son had been selected (presumably at random) to be one of the 30 mascots that line up as a flag-waving guard of honour for the players to run past before bursting through the banner.

Whole thing was organised by Rory (I don't know his last name) from the club.
Rory did a fantastic job to organise 30 excited kids, not to mention the parents.

It is a great initiative by the club to get kids involved like this.
My son loved it.

Congratulations again to Rory and the club.

Great stuff. What a thrill!

I love the flag wavers. I think it is intimidating to the opposition.

To know that kids are selected from the membership database is even better and really shows how far the club have come.

Nice story Enrico :D

http://www.saints.com.au/season2010/new ... fault.aspx

anything that shows the saints colours is great

I was thinking of suggesting he go to Cheerleading school
But given he is starting a fresh with a new group of Kids each week it will never be too rehearsed

and he is learning each week what he needs to tell them and which actions to practice first..

did your son enjoy his time enrico misso?

Rory's grandfather was President of the Saints in the 1950's, well before he was born!

Don't you think Cleaver Marketing is a bit drastic Bev??

Oooooooooops

Maybe they could use some "cleaver" marketing on the so called supporters who bag our players.

Well done Rory/St Kilda.

Shame the minimum age is 8.

I reckon 6-13 would be better, not sure if it's the go for 14 and 15 year olds, but maybe that is an age where teenagers can lose interest in footy and get into other things instead?

Anyway, if it's still going in a few years I'll try some good old fashioned bribery and corruption to get my kids selected

I think you are right about the age. I had to take a mates kid on Sunday and he is 13 and even though he was excited at the start he said it became a bit boring as he continued to wave the flag. 13 certainly should be the top age limit IMO.

Top bloke and definitely a passionate Sainter with a nice long family history of association with the club.

Being 42 and 6 foot 2 I think I may struggle to pass myself off as 13 but it could be worth a try.

instead of waving flags , give the kids a (perferated) message banner .

could be a generic message , but better a specific match day message.

the kids , of course , get to keep 'their' bit of the message.

(theres history [and saints stories] in 35 years time.)
