The Best Saints from Tasmania.

Post: # 855058Post Elvis »

Continuing the off season Best Of Teams. Here are those from across Bass Strait named in or as close to their playing positions as possible. Players names are listed, years played, number of games played for St.Kilda and where known, the club originally recruited from. As with the Ballarat Saints and the Best of the Recycleds, I'll leave this thread live for a week or so and welcome everyone's contributions/suggestions for change, hopefully unearthing some others that I may have overlooked.

All contributors considered as selectors! If anyone could contribute by pointing out the original clubs where that information is missing it would be most appreciated.

There are some real gems here, it is quite a formidable line up.

Enjoy.....

Who the hell is Darrell Bonney?

John Bonney played for St Kilda from '67 till '76, he wore No. 1.

What about Matthew Young? Played over 90 games for us and was originally from Launceston. Couple of years there where he was quite handy.

Yes he did indeed. For the record, Nick didn't play football in Tasmania.
Love the controversy surrounding this one

His turn will come...

It's club recruited from immediately prior to entering the AFL or VFL Saintbrat.

Don't worry, Roo gets up in a number of forthcoming teams as captain... including hopefully a real one in September next year!

From memory, Matthew was recruited from school in Launceston by Hawthorn and made his way to St Kilda later in his career.
