To Those BOOING at the end of the game

Post: # 778220Post Sam23 »

Absolute idiots.

Seriously no other way you could put it.

10 goals up. Against 4th on the ladder (now 6th after our smashing of them). 15-0 soon to be 16-0 once the game was over. And you think you have any right to boo a team that has beaten all comers this year?

Seriously what a way to show your gratitude to the club that has worked so hard to get to where we are by BOOING and COMPLAINING about the players who have got this club to the best position we have been in for god knows how long.

Have a good hard look at yourselves you numbskulls.

Goddard.

Absolutely agree - disgraceful, ignorant, embarrassing behaviour by some of our fans.

In the English Premier League whenever a team starts to pass the ball around without the opposition touching it the supporters start to cheer every pass

This is what we should be doing especially when we are 10 goals up with 5 minutes to play - we should be cheering the fact that the opposition can't get the ball off us - we should be giving a huge rousing reception to every backward pass every little dinky kick to a player unmarked - we should be celebrating this game of keepings off

We are the Saints we are 16 zip

I didn't mind the passing around either. They needed to keep themselves fresh for the big game next week!

Well said Sam.....disgraceful behaviour by many of our fans....from the noise it wasnt just an isolated few tools

At the risk of sounding elitist, some peoples lack of knowledge of modern footy is frightening

Anyone who DID boo got the guts to stand up on here, admit it and try and justify it??????????????

Well I thought it was shocking...

Wasn't like we were 10 goals up going for 16-0 or anything

Oh...

Gee those Adelaide fans were noisy - all their team needed to do was man up.
But then those Bru-u-uces from Adelaide don't do that.

Similar to in cricket when the poms are in an unwinnable position and they need to bat out a draw - every dot ball is cheered.

Ugh, I hate cricket.

It's funny - but of the four games in melbourne I've missed this year, three were absolute massacres. Maybe I should not go next week. 8-)

Is this justification for not going by the way:

Round 3 - Absolutely no reason. Thought I owed the missus some time so I spent the day with her instead. This was before I actually renewed my membership this year as well and money was tight.

Round 9 - My fiancee's birthday - I already promised her I'd spend the day with her and that was fair enough.

Round 13 - Around the time I started the "It's more than a game" thread, I had a wedding thing to go to (not an actual wedding, something for my own wedding) - it actually turned out I didn't need to go to it either but ah well.

Round 16 - My fiancee was sick in bed. Was hardly going to leave her alone and run off to the footy as much as i wanted to.

She coyly said to me "So all I have to do from now on is just be sick and you won't go to the footy"

I must be the best fiancee in the world.

Oh, back on topic - if I was there tonight, I wouldn't have booed!

i enjoyed the keepings off at the end, it completely embarrassed adelaide, we had the ball for a long time, and they could not get it off us, it would have been frustrating to the entire organisation that we were chipping it around for so long without them even contesting for the ball, in that scenario, i think its great

This.

I absolutely love it when a game is killed off early as it was today and we can just sit back and, in a way, not really concentrate on the game.

The amount of energy we conserve by doing this is invaluable. Absolutely no point going gung-ho when the game is already won. We've made more than enough statements this year. The only thing left to prove is that we can do it in September.

Also interesting to see that we have introduced a new signal for 'keep possession/slow it down' as opposed to the traditional 'holding the ball in the air'

- Roo was running around tapping an imaginary watch on his wrist presumably meaning "take some time off the clock".

Milney did that with about 15 minutes to go when he was near the centre-- then the Saints kicked a goal
