Recruiting Manager !!

Post: # 623181Post Eastern »

Garry Lyon suggested today that StKilda people had been seen in discussion with Scott Clayton (Bulldogs recruiting manager). Said his source was VERY good. Mark Stevens chipped in by saying that Clayton and Matthew Drain (Saints Footy Ops Manager) are close friends.

This suggests that John Peake, who has been at the club for less than 2 years could be on very shakey ground !!

Scott Clayton is a good recruiter but he must have an eye for small players because the Bulldogs lack talls.....

He does have an eye for players with good disposal skills which is something our recruiters appear not to rate too highly....

Lets hope Peake does not think he is on shakey ground......if he thinks he is gone............

He could pick the biggest duds as a reward

What's Peake's record versus Clayton's record? IIRC, Peake has only been in charge for one national draft. I don't think Clayton's been in the Bulldogs job for very long either. Considering the nature of the job, I'm not sure why Peake is getting such a short run or why we're suddenly supposed to be excited about Clayton.

i don't know that getting one means losing the other

perhaps we're just increasing resources in that department (wishful thinking)

clayton is being found out...wow a bunch of small's and recycled talls

that wont get you to a flag matey

no comparisons to us please as both clubs wont win the flag this year

the dogs have heaps of smalls and eade and co think the game is going this way...once welsh retires they have one chb in williams and a bits a peices player in hahn who is ok...

a team still needs kpp's

they don't

fail clayton

You cant really blame John Peake is you don't think he's up to it. He never applied for the job he's got, St KFC approached him out of depseration. Of course he would jump at a chance like that. They burnt so many other people for the gig they had to look at other clubs and see who was 2nd in charge. Who ever is the Recruiting Manager working forward needs to ensure the Coach will work in the with the talent they bring into the club.

Back on Peake.

He has only had the one draft period. And from what I can see most of his picks look ok.

GTrain and Schneider one would assume would have been Lyon's call.

Ben and Steven booth look good. Steven for where he was taken will bea beauty I think. Ben however being rated by many as being about that pick..so no skill there.

Eljay was taken very late.

With the Rookies Miles has looked ok in the little bit we have seen. But his weight gain has caused shin splints which has restricted him.

Chivers from reports is the one guy that has not knuckled under to a poor attitude and has been banished to Casey.

The saints have for many a year now made habit of drafting guys with poor attitudes.

Just to clear up how long Scott Clayton has been at the Dogs.....

Clayton was recruited to the Bulldogs by current Richmond coach Terry Wallace in 1999.
