Any ideas for a new football manager ?

Post: # 475636Post Sun Ra »

Balme - may need a fresh challenge after the Cats got the flag ?
Grant Thomas - used to do the contracts, has a head for business, good with money, can handle the media, also his old buddy Rocket is gone, so that clears the decks ??
Other possibilities, most of which don't really make you go: "WOW ".......
Gary Ayres, Libba, N.Daniher, T.Daniher, Bundy Rendall, Denis Pagan, etc.

How about Nathan Burke?

Can he be both a director and Football Manager?

No big drama about Burke being on the board and also FM, providing everyone was OK with the arrangement. Might be still a bit close to a lot of the players having played with a lot of them though....

Most definitely can't be Nathan Burke.

And whilst Burke is on the board, Thomas won't be employed by St Kilda (without wanting to sound like b4e, he can hardly work for an organisation he is suing, can he?)

Balme will be staying at Geelong. He is a legend down there.

You need the footballers who have had the administrative/business/high-level coaching involvement.

At this stage, some contenders would be:
- Tony Elshaug, who handled a lot of trade week for us and has impressed at the club since he has been there.
- Danny Frawley, who was mentioned by SEN and has the business experience (although with LinFox :?) and coaching experience.
- Robert Shaw ... was rumoured to be interested in moving back to Melbourne, but not sure of his situation with Fremantle.

Ayres doesn't have the administrative understanding. Rendell is part of the old regime. Daniher no. Pagan only a coach - like Sheldon.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

I'm sure we can find someone from Sydney to do the job.

Burkie - no help run the board not the footy dept
Shaw - i hear freo are tossing money his way and is unlikly to leave
Balme - why would he leave the reigning premiers ?
Sheedy - Freo offered him big big dollars but he said no cause i feel he doesnt want to play second fiddle
Spud - dunno hes great and all but comes across in the media being a bit of a fool
Libba - wash your mouth out !! hell no
Rendell - again that boat has gone out to sea

not saying he is a fool
i love Spud as much as the next guy and he was a great captain just his media performances (it maybe a put on act i dunno) he acts a bit like a dill thats all i have full respect for him but i think his role in the media side of things is to play the silly joker guy and thats not the real sorta image we want for a football manager

I dont care who gets the job, but I would prefer a St.Kilda identidy. We turfed out too msny last year, and now Sheldon, who was the only one with a Saints link in the coaching management staff. Jason Cripps where are you?
