geelong have signed brookes & watts death certificate

Post: # 466571Post rogerwa »

the days of lumbering do nothing else logs are gone...even gehrig saw the writing on the wall, his style of play was becoming a liability & no longer an asset

todays footy's about run run run from defence, run through the midfield creating & overlapping...forwards are about movement, fexability, creating opportunities

be interesting to see if we have moved with the times or stuck in the land of nod

imo brookes,watts to follow gehrig...gone

Look at the teams that succeded this year ... they all have mobile forwardlines with lots of different options.

Agree with you rogerwa.

Began with the Eagles last year and has continued with the Cats.

Cats: S. Johnson, G. Ablett, Chapman, Stokes

Roos: B. Harvey, S. Grant, Edwards, Corey Jones

Pies: Didak, Davis, Rusling, Medhurst

Gehrig said it when he retired ... the game is "too fast" for blokes like him now.

A. Rocca is useless nowdays. Ditto Tredrea. Even Lloyd has to play a different role, and he's not as good.

Guys like Rooey and Kosi who are mobile will be fine, but the days of Watts/Rocca/A. Lynch/Dunstall are gone.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Not Geelong...it has been that way for several years now.....

The club should seriously see if we can swap watts to the Dogs fora mid.

You can play one of Kosi, Watts or Brooks in the forward line...but not two...

....and neither Watts nor Brooks is as mobile as Kosi..

Allen is likely to move past both of Watts and Brooks

Just proves we need ALOT more goals from our mid-feild...

Need Dal, X, Lenny, Ball, Fizz, Joey and co kicking more goals.

Harv's is of the Hook, because he is Harvs! :D :D :D

Brooks is very quick. he just hasnt done anything for us

he was 2.92 for the 20m at draft camp, one of the only players over 190cm to be under 3.00.

Gehrig was also very fast but could only run in straight lines.

I know a 22 year old Gehrig would still be able to do it. it wasnt that he is too slow, he was getting old and he has a big body which catches up

I can't see the link between Geelong winning the flag and Brooks (note the spelling) and Watts not having a future.

Are you saying Geelong only had midfielders?

Didn't they bring in their oldest, slowest, tallest player for this game?

Did Mooney and Ottens not play?

Win it for HIM!

Dont compare Dunstall to any of those blokes.....

Plus, Dunstall could move, he had a terrific lead.

If anything, it's signed Rix's papers, in favour of Brooks.

Having someone like Ottens who can go forward is a good thing.

Brooks will be delisted. He cannot ruck. Not sure Rix can either but will hold his spot.

I think Brooks will be offered up in trade week,as a tall forward, but im not sure the Bulldogs can have both McDougall and Brooks on their list, there isn't the room to carry 2 dud forwards.....

there is still room in the game for a Gehrig type player, as long as the plays to their strengths

Ports small forward line was pathetic yesterday, how much better would have they been if they had a power forward to kick it to

Even Browny shed at least 10kg this year. Maybe more. He was taking lots of marks on long leads around the 50m mark.

I thnk the one thing Geelong have shown is a no hacks policy. The game can still harbour players of all shapes and sizes - as long as they are good enough. Geelong had no liabilities or passengers. They all contributed and did the right thing when it was in their area and they all run like mad.

saints need so do something about the bottom 6. Too many passengers this year IMO.

i can forsee a role for brooks in the forward pocket alongside kosi this season. hard for oppositions to compete with that height and marking ability on the last line and it's all about playing to your strengths. we've been following trends too often and for too long and should start a few trends of our own.

as for allen, don't know much about him. tell me more
