I know many have already said it, but I think I’m now officially out on Ratten. I said the same for Richo and then had to put up with another 2.5 years of his mediocrity. Ratten unfortunately is just Richo 2.0

As head coach Ratts is ultimately responsible for team selection, gameplan, motivating the players and holding them accountable.

Which of those 4 things is he succeeding at?

Ratten wins the medal for turning a 6-8 position team, to a bottom 4. Well done Finnis, Lethlean & Bassett for extending this clowns contract. How typically St Kilda to extend a coach who had proven nothing and has his team going backwards faster than a 'broken down race car'.

We made exactly the same mistake with Richo. When we will learn?

We can't sack Ratten now but what we can do is remove the entire board plus Satan and Gags and start again.

There is no doubt this group of players have lost belief and I dont believe its a coincidence. The obvious is it coincides with Rattens contract extension.

This group of players are no longer playing for the club or the coach. Surely there has to be significant questions asked of the coaching group??? I wonder if the f....ts in charge of this club even consulted the players before the extended the clowns contract?

This is as bad as a coaching effort that trumps even the Richardson & Watters eras, its so poor its scary really....

Absolutely atrocious - they are no longer playing for the coach or the club.

I cant believe how poor our systems have become? Nearly every handball tonight was given to a stationary player. Its like they have been practicing stationary handball drills and forgot that you need moving players?

Then attempting kicks off no steps again no momentum, or second guessing who to kick to and missing so many targets it was embarrassing.

They are a group of confused footballers who as soon as things dont work they emotionally cave in. That mental susceptibility is not that of a happy or well coached group of footballers.

There are significant issues at Moorabbin and unfortunately it all points towards to the coaching group. If you think otherwise you are not being realistic.

Agree. There are problems down at Moorabin. This list has talent but they aren't bringing it. McGlynn our midfield coach on SEN, Dermie asked if he wanted to be a senior coach one day ? He said no, I don't want the pressure ... hmmmm ? Inspiring stuff !!

I agree totally, Devilhead. For all the rubbish that all of us post from time to time on this forum , there is a collective wisdom to be found here, reflecting that we love the club ( perhaps aside from a few mischievous interloping posters ) , have seen so many games, have lived through so many coaches and administrations and have a feel for what works - and what does not - for our club. In that wisdom , we can collectively stand outside the bubble of the club and get a better perspective than those living in the vortex have. The contract extension for Brett Ratten is a classic example. There was absolutely no justification for pulling that trigger - it is not as if other clubs were about to swoop. Yet those inside the club saw some perceived pressure, panicked … and here we are.
