Hopefully Ryder & Campbell can dominate the Port rucks. Clearances will be important. Given the heat the ball will be slippery so hopefully our small forwards can get the job done.

Smart move, give Marshall another week to lose the cork. Recognised Campbell's size & abilities if the conditions are wet. No need to expose Heath in, likely slippery, conditions up there, makes sense. Would have been funny if they thought otherwise.

Totally, whilst there hasn't been much rain since Tuesday, we had a big dump before that so ground saturation is still around 100% and so any magnitude of rain up until and during the game will make conditions hard.

You'd think the club have had a plan for this game long before hopping on the plane, in a way our experience at the ground should hold us in good stead.

Hmmm very nervous about this match now. Important we keep RoMo protected and I respect that but he is a massive out

Really want to face Melbourne with a 6-1 record

Reckon it’ll be tight but then our fitness will prevail and we’ll burn them in the 2nd half

Best thing we can do. No point having a half lame RoMa this week, then complain that RoMa is still lame against Melbourne next week.

It is not a final, no point playing injured players. We are playing a team without their first ruck. A game we must win so outpointing their ruck is our best chance.

Both will draw fire from Max when positioned in the forward line, may end up being focal points.

I don't think we realise it yet, but Jack Hayes is a massive loss for us and especially this week. How crazy is that, has there ever been a 4.1 gamer more important to a teams fortunes.

This is our biggest test.

Josh Battle will be really tested as a key defender especially with no Lienert.

Samurai,
How many times did we win with Ryder and no Marshall last year?

Hate Port Adelaide - more than Adelide ? It’s hard to tell. Both Adelaide’s are evil.

Mmm… I’d have preferred Lienert stay

Thought it was time for Windy to have a rest… I really want to see some of these kids that are trying to push there way: Connolly and Bytel in particular

Feeling very nervous as well & I don't know if we will have the legs in the second half to over run them . We have travelled two weeks in a row & last week was a grind & we had nothing left in the tank with 15 minutes to go but sheer will got us the win. Pretty hard to back that sort of effort 2 weeks in a row in humid conditions against a team that is a lot better than their current form suggests + they had an easy game last week . IMO I think we will lose but we will bounce back & beat Melbourne the following week.

No excuses…8 day break and the team is very fit.
If they continue to play to their systems, result will take care of itself!!

This is the type of game Bytel should be the prototype for, Port are crap and are on a knife's edge and only one more loss away from having the fork stuck in them for 22. However they were a battle hardened flag favourite only 7 games ago so you'd think at some stage they will fire up. Bytel is in his fourth year and looks like Tarzan, but is he ready for the jungle, and Melbourne next round. We will be in really good shape if he makes the case.

Are we selecting a team to beat Port, or are we resting the weapons so that we compete well against Melbourne, Geelong and Adelaide?

It must be a question the selectors ask themselves. If we busy a nut in Cairns, then fall in a heap if ain’t no good, but if we balance the selections over the month, perhaps it’s better?

I would guess they really are playing ‘one game at a time’ and going balls out to win every game as they come. So throw in the kitchen sink and never mind.

Remember the Shanghai Shellacking! Sweet Revenge? (yes, I know Cairns is not in China, ....yet,)

We have 8 players in Saturday's side from that 2019 debacle.

Port about 13.

Interestingly? Ryder, Lienert and Howard played for Port. Not sure who to count them for, then.

How some things have changed. And Gears has healed. And hopefully we will not have to field a side riddled with flu.

Go Sainters!

Lienert was sub last week and probably will be again this week. I hope he's not needed though.

We have to play our best side for every game, no point worrying about Melbourne, every game is a 4 point game.

Any chance to bury Port we have to jump on, along with Essendon, they are my most despised team.

Glad to see Gray is out, he always has a field day against us.

Windhager very lucky to be in the side. 11 and 9 disposals the last 2 games. Lienert was superb again last week when he came on but gets dropped again, crazy.

We well and truly have the ruck advantage in this game. Expect to.see Gresh in the middle a fair bit with Ryder jamming it down his throat. Rozzee has been their catalyst for form change , with him in the middle, so we need someone tagging him out of it. With no Dixon I have our back six covering their forward 6 easily. Powell Pepper has been their most lively target up forward last couple of games. Paton/Wilkie to shut him down.

Their back six is still good but except for last week, have been leaking goals. Allir is playing injured and Jonas hasn't been great this year so hopefully we get on top in the midfield easy and make life hard for them. Forward pressure will be a big factor in the conditions so Butler, Higgins and co needs to get to work.
We are very fit this year so if we are in front at 3qrt time we will romp it home. Saints by 25.

It’d certainly be crazy if Lienert could play the same role as Windhager.
