Re: Billings and Jones to play for Sandy
Every week it says Hannebery 6-8wks. Seriously.
And Hunter Clark was supposed to only be missing for 4 matches when he hurt his shoulder. He's still 1-2 wks away from any sort of match practice. Frustrating.

Just delete Hannaberry from your mind, it's just easier to forget about him as a possibility

So probably the highest-paid non-playing coach in the history of the AFL

I just think of Hannebery as a 'guinea pig' for our rehab team, a great example of what NOT to do!

There must be an interesting list of players that were champions, faded with injuries, took advantage of the AFLs equalization and were recruited by other teams and then ultimately provided little more than disappointment.
I think Collingwood got one too..Daniel Wells? From North.

Re: Billings and Jones to play for Sandy
Barring injury, Jones in round 8 and Billings round 9 would be very handy inclusions.

Agreed, but bringing that back a week.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Thu 28 Apr 2022 11:00am Barring injury, Jones in round 8 and Billings round 9 would be very handy inclusions.
If this midfield wins 6 in a row, I think it would be a tough call, as to who gets replaced by them, as it appears that 15 positions on the field are running roles and this current crew have their skill levels soaring from a 6 months build up and their fitness levels building towards elite.
I'm just hoping for an injury free win.

Whether we like it or not it will come a time to rotate / rest some guys to help see out the season. Hopefully injuries aren’t the deciding factor

Hannebery -- Mr September?
At 6-8 weeks away he should be ok for a game or two before getting injured again.
Jones, Clarke and Billings are great inclusions to have coming back

As long as Sandy makes the finals I’m more than happy for Dan to be Mr September.
No room for him in the seniors unless hit by a Covid crisis.

I thought the close contact rule has gone now. Only hope they don't get Covid.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Thu 28 Apr 2022 7:44pmAs long as Sandy makes the finals I’m more than happy for Dan to be Mr September.

So Billings, who gets dropped for him?
I can't see anyone missing out.
It's an unusual problem

Long for Billings.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 29 Apr 2022 1:04am So Billings, who gets dropped for him?

THo I do love Long.
When it comes to Jones...mmmn ..tough question.
I am not a huge JOnes fan, but I love the lawn mower action...
Ross has been getting plenty of it and I love his effort in the first 3-4 rounds.
Crouch has lifted 20% too...
I think we might be in for a few exposures soon...
and there is always the prospect of injury
I rated Jones at about the Crouch level, lower on skill, but higher in output, but lately Crouch has crept above him.
BOth above Ross, but then Ross has improved.
And then young Mr. Hunter Clark has the chops to be even better, but has been whacked by the baseball bat of bad fortune.
Billings must play, no doubt.

Re: Billings and Jones to play for Sandy
NWM was making a few uncharacteristic errors last week. He’s showing signs of fatigue with a few kicks out on the full and he missed his target a couple of times. Not sure if it was due to the two consecutive 6 day breaks, because we had Max King and a few other players also off their gameWellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 29 Apr 2022 1:04am So Billings, who gets dropped for him?

I think the young guys like Windy and NWM will need to be managed but I do hope that Billings earns his recall, rather than just being gifted a spot back in the seniors

I imagine Billings gets in only if he deserves it.Scollop wrote: ↑Fri 29 Apr 2022 1:23amNWM was making a few uncharacteristic errors last week. Match committee has been fairly good except for dropping Lienert for some strange reason.

Technically not dropped as was not in the 22 last game. He may well still be the Sub.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 29 Apr 2022 2:13am

Re: Billings and Jones to play for Sandy
I doubt Billings would be gifted a game if he was poor, or struggles physically. I doubt he would be though on either front. However it is possible that he may take a little bit to get match touch back.
Nasiah and Windhager are probably due for a rest as you say as they have already rested Owens. How they go this game will also input. But the tropics and humidity can be taxing physically.
I would guess however they may limit the TOG% for both Billings and Jones to keep them fresh for the Dees game for which I think they are likely inclusions for.
How Wood goes is also a factor as he is a possible swap for Billings. Wood however is a very hard running player and does a lot of the small team things that coaches love.

Re: Billings and Jones to play for Sandy
I agree that JB requires a few weeks to regain touch. We are in a good position when you’ve got players competing for a spot. It means you need to impress at training and you need to give 100% effort on game day.
That’s exactly what Wood has done. Wood and DMac have both been huge for us with their ability to get back and help out in defence. He and DMac have put their bodies on the line and they bust their guts with two way running up and down the wings.
Wood is the Saints wild card. I wouldn’t be dropping him at all unless his form drops off

Butler would know he has to start hitting the scoreboard or he will be replaced. His kicking lacks penetration.

Re: Billings and Jones to play for Sandy
Butler would know the coach loves his effort and team game. He really just needs Higgins and King, the power forwards, to kick straight consistently and he can chip in for 15-40 goals a year on top of the running, chasing, blocking and tackling he does.
He allows Higgins to get out the back and makes space for King to move in.
