Matthew Roberts and Neil Erasmus both get good write ups.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I like him too but the go home factor is just too risky IMO. Stick with a Victorian

I agree.

Always a risk with a FRDP from interstate

Unless they are a clear cut pick, go local

First round draft picks get picked up by interstate teams all the time, what's the ratio of players staying where drafted vs going home.

I don't think it's as bad some are trying to make it out to be.

If you are talking about me I don't have stats to back it up but it's a definitely a issue especially in our current environment . IMO a lot of players eventfully head back to their state of origin which is only natural

My quick research shows a total of 81 players were drafted to an interstate club in the first round going back to 2013.
15 have gone back home.

Not that bad really.

So 1 in 7 DPs go home?

I don’t like those odds with such a valuable commodity as a first round DP

It won't worry many of the recruiters, in fact, it will give us another point of interest in this year's draft.

North are tipped to take a South Australian with their first pick.

Their first pick in 2020 was also a South Australian.

How many of those were Gold Coast players and 'came home' more due to Salary Cap / Crap team issues more than Go Home Factor??

Hopefully we get two from that list
Ideally, we would be looking to draft three kids.

Windhager and Owens are Academy players. Two things need to happen: They need to not be taken in picks 1-20 and we need enough points to bid for them.

Not sure we have enough at the moment.

So that leaves pick 9 which will end up being 11.

Again it will depend on who's available.

Victorian draft candidates haven't played much footy so it will be based on what form they have shown from limited game time and how well they went at Under 16.

Choosing solely from the players on your list, and based on what I think the club is looking for, Josh Sinn, captain of the Sandy Dragons is a definite possibility. One of his assets is his breakaway speed which is what our recruiters are looking for in a prospect, this time around.

I also like Tyler Sonsie. His VFL game for Box Hill was outstanding. He looks not far off AFL.

If we picked up Sinn, Windhager and Owens we will have done very well.

AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan has put forward two smokeys to keep an eye on in this year’s National Draft.

Murray Bushrangers talent Tom Brown is an exciting prospect who possess “mercurial-type ability” through traffic, according to Sheehan.
“When he comes off half-back or plays half-forward, he just steps through them as if they’re not there at times.
“He’s got great speed, breaks away on many, many occasions as well.”

Sheehan also singled out Subiaco midfielder-forward Neil Erasmus as a player he expects to go in the first round of the 2021 draft.
“I like the kid Neil Erasmus, a boy from Subiaco and born in South Africa,” the draft guru said.
“He had a corkie, so he’s missed the National stage … but he’ll still go first round this boy – a really gifted half-forward/midfielder, strong, he’s attack on the ball and skill in the air around goals are all pretty elite.

I think we need to hit the mark in regards position with our first pick, we want and need a pure, balanced midfielder, with breakaway speed. Please not a half back or half forward. We need a genuine mid.
