Chins up. 3 games to go.

Post: # 1864868Post johnearljames »

We are still in the fight. Really in it.

3 games to go. All in Queensland.

We have to beat Hawthorn next week or else we will need to win the last 2 games against West Coast and GWS to make finals.

Shame we couldn't get over Melbourne. That would have made us definite finals contenders I reckon.

Footy is a strange sport. When your arse is really on the line, it can bring the best out in teams.

I like your optimism but I think we will struggle to win another game we just look real tired & the opposition have worked us out. As you said need to win 2 more games not impossible but unlikely IMO

Gee we've made it easy for the opposition to work us out if that's our excuse. Poor skills by select individuals and looking like we are running in sand. Plain and simple that is all.

The loss of those two attributes has also caused us to lose our dare and take the game on.

We've dropped off the perch.

I'm not confident against Hawthorn either.

Maybe it's all that extra travel. It might be taking a toll and we are a young team. Players are beginning to look tired.

We look a little predictable and there appears to be no Plan B.

What may help are teams outside the 8 like Essendon could do us a favour because on their day they are capable and our opposition last night are still a bit flaky and unreliable.

I think it's very important that we make the 8 this season simply because it's a psychological barrier the club needs to overcome given that it's been so long since we have played finals. It also gives the club and supporters hope.

We are a pretty young side and just seem tired overall. Its all taking its toll. Living interstate, big games, constant travelling, not seeing family, worried about family, stuck in Noosa, etc. On reflection, this is probably why we are now faltering as a side and bad habits and bad play are creeping into the team and coaching.

Its no fluke that 3 of the top 5 sides are interstate sides who can play at home and live a normal life still so to speak. Geelong and Richmond are handling it better due to having more expierence and being seasoned finals campaigners.

We need to really freshen up the side for Hawthorn next Sunday. Its good for us they play on Tuesday night in Adelaide. Need to bounce back.

Then hopefully we can either knock off GWS or WC to sneak into the 8.

Huge mistake not to rest a raft of players vs Geelong.

Hard to overstate what a huge f*** up that was.

We have a break till next Sunday.

Hawthorn play Adelaide in Adelaide on Tuesday, then have to back up against us.

So we really have no excuses next week.

Exactly right

Thought Gresh, King, Clarke and possibly Billings could have been rested around then and that we take a bad loss without the scrutiny of being stitched up by a top team.

We have been relatively lucky with injuries so far.

The Hawks game is massive, if we win this. Then I think we will finish 8th.

It's been probably a pass mark so far. If we slip out of the 8, then it won't be.

Blues lost.
I think if we win next Sunday, and we should, and GWS lose - or even if Melbourne or Collingwood lose - it would make it very had for us to be shifted out of the Top Eight after that.
