Injury Update.

These guys aren't too bad with their estimates...

Nice to see Rooey expected back at rd.15 (I know it's only an estimate).

And Jesse Smith possibly rd.8 in the VFL.

We'll just have to wait and see.

So no Westhoff for PA..and Schultz is a maybe...

Would possibly leave Tredera as their only key forward.

Can't these people read.

The official St Kilda injury list shows that Lynch was NOT injured for round 3, round 4 and is still NOT injured.
He was simply unavailable to play because of a physical medical reason.

Don't these people know that they are destroying the St Kilda medical staffs good injury record by listing players unavailable for physical medical reasons as injured.

I think his brother Justin Westhoff is still available as he played against Geelong

Port Adelaide named 10 guys of 190cm and over in their 25 last week.
Brogan 200
D Stewart 200
J Westhoff 199
Trengove 197
Chaplin 196
Tredrea 194
Carlile 192
C Cornes 192
Lobbe 199 Emerg
Salter 191 Emerg

They got smashed by a fast moving Geelong last week, so expect plenty of coaches' tantrum changes.
But also expect them to play plenty of talls and to be heavily chastised into coming out to play and fight.

Last week Sandilands showed what excess height over opponents can do.
AND it is because he has height that Dawson needs play otherwise the Saints can be monstered heightwise.
He only has to bring the ball to ground to give the Saints a chance.

i think that's a bit of a nothing stat. two of them emergencies which leaves 8. most teams would have that many (or like to anyway). 4 up the spine at FF, CHF, CHB, FB, 2 ruckman and an extra tall forward and defender.

Agree...which is why I posted our height list.

However we could play one more tall. It is not vital though.

Round 8 isn't that far away for Jesse, how amazing if he made a return to footy this year.

It's been said here before but I saw Lynch after Nth game and he looked like he was walking with a "dead" / "floppy" right leg - this week saw him and looked fine.
And where is Dempster???!!
Maybe a club suspension..........

Jesse could be very handy...he's 191cm

Doubt he'll be able to get a game this year, but you never know stranger things have happened.

If he comes back as the footballer he was, he will be hard to keep out IMO. Would obviously need at least 4 weeks match fitness after the layoff and also become accustomed to our style of footy? Who knows,I didnt think Peake would play senior footy unless we had a lot of injuries but he has played every game?

Maybe this year?

Jesse played half back for North Melbourne in 2007 and was described as tall, quick, and an excellent kick.

But would Jesse be able to play forward.
He may just be able to be the lead up forward the Saints have been looking for.

But the big catch is going to be how do you get someone to change their running style and maintain it when they are exhausted and under pressure.

When Jesse was recruited by North as Father son they said he was a potential no. 1 draft prospect. I kept an interest in his career at north as I have a family member who follows The roos and he was a player that looked like he was going to be something really special.

If we get him up and going it will be a huge gain for us. Not sure where he would play but Im really looking forward to getting him out there.

Ross tends to avoid injury prone players so you would expect that he must have a huge potential in the coaches eyes also.

Saw both Lynch and Dempster on Sunday night. Both seemed to be walking fine.
Dempster had the moonboot at the end of the preseason. No moonboot the other night. Has he played any VFL yet??

Dempster was on the bike upstairs today and Lynch was running laps.

IMO if you are going to bring JS (BTW does anyone know his nickname?) in he needs to play where he feels comfortable.

The fact that he has senior experience in defence would suggest that defence is his role, however, he may have been forced down back because the Hawks had plenty up forward in 2007.

From what has been said about JS he is a future mid, so a beginning role at HB would be a good way to develop him.

If the apple doesn't fall to far from the tree, and then combine that with his height and the form he's already shown, we could have a potential hybrid of BJ and Lenny...sorry I'm getting a little carried away but IMO if we can get JS up and running he is going to be elite.

Assume you mean North Melbourne, I was also of the understanding that even though relatively tall he was a running player, do remember watching him but only with mild interest as you do with emerging talent at other clubs. Everyone you speaks to seems to agree that a fully fit Jesse Smith would be a walk up start into any team in the league? Was/Is he really this good?

Bit early to say that. There are not many elite players. And a hybird of BJ and Lenny???..his early stats were not that breathtaking before we get that excited.

Lets see how he performs in some games for us first.

But yes there is a good chance IF he can play regularly that he can be at least good.

But walk up start no. At present he is just another player with "potential". And with his injuries he may never be as good as he could have been either. Then again he may be....

He will have to push past some pretty handy players who are playing well.
