Who negotiated the stadium deals?

Post: # 736613Post 3rd generation saint »

As we all know our current stadium deal with Rip Off incorporated is making good money for Jihad Stadium and costing saints a fortune.

My question is who the hell negotiated this deal on behalf of the clubs, Lionel Hutz?

Surely if they had half a brain they could see the deal was going to screw some of the clubs, or was that their intention?

I think what happened is, 2 or 3 years ago, a deal was struck with each tenant team.

The contract finished earlier this year, and the teams all thought the conditions would roll over until a better deal would be struck.

Unfortunately the dome corporation dont appear to be all that moral or ethical and are now screwing the clubs even worse than they were before.

Any chance of sending Collins to Guantamino, place seems perfect for him.

The problem we and al the other clubs have is that how do we "negotiate" anything. We have nothing to bargain with. We have to play our games at MCG or Etihad. They know they have all clubs over a barrell and therefore are not negotiating anything they are dictating what the clubs will get. It is a terrible monopoly that th AFL have eft us in and lets hope they find a solution that is fair for everyone.

While true, I still have to say I don't understand what either stadium thinks they're going to achieve.

If the clubs are crippled at the gate, it puts the 'Roos and D's in very tough financial positions. If either of them moves/folds, that's a loss at the gate for their respective homes.

If they push the AFL to play interstate games at Princess Park or elsewhere, again, they lose gate.

Unless the actual margins are very different to recent media reports, it seems to me that both the G and Etihad are currently gorging themselves at the trough at the expense of the long term. In the case of Etihad, they need to ensure they're delivering stockholder returns over the next 15 years... it will not be good for them to put St Kilda and the Bulldogs (2 clearly viable teams without the marketshare of Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood) and North in a situation where they must consider other venues

There needs to be a Saintsational equivalent to Facebook's 'like' button.

Given how extensively the clubs have been ripped off I am pretty certain the guiding hand of Adrian Anderson will be in there somewhere.

Everyone knows Hutz can't beat the wookie defense.

Surely though if you sign a contract you would read it first. Did we sign an agreement or did the afl sign one for us?

Are you gonna be the one?

Anderson Consulting went bankrupt a number of years ago.
Why would anyone want to employ an Anderson to negotiate anything.

there is no contract and we have no choice.

the MCG categorically said they dont want us.

I wont pay to watch us princes park, the thought of giving money to carlton sickens me, remember where collo comes from and how they treated the dogs and roy boys back when.

so we have no choice.

All comes down to the clubs relinquishing their own stadiums. AFL manufactured a reason and the clubs went for it. As usual, in no other code in the world has this happened. It is especially egregious that clubs away from Melbourne not only have their stadiums and thus $$$ but enjoy home ground advantage in ways Melbourne clubs don't.

AFL = con job
