excellent. Only change Bally in for Allen. If he doesn't come up it'll be Birss in for him.

Cheers for that SM!

Thought maybe M. Gardiner was a good show to come in ... to help out with our forward-line structure and back-up ruck duties...

Disappointing that Birss and Gards have been ignored, but Lyon never likes to make changes after a win.

If Croads out as expected then Saints are plenty tall up forward - why on earth would you bring M Gardiner in at this stage of the season anyway considering the season he's had??

Good selection - if Bally comes up.

On the positive side, it's good that there are players at least knocking on the door rather simply being the last man standing.

Can't see a losing line in that side, go Saints!

Hope you come up Bally and play your two greatest games for the Saints over the next two weeks. You are going to be a very worthy Norm Smith medallist.

Who would think X would be not included if you thought back to the last couple of years.

Hope Birss gets his shot, if Bally doesnt come up

No Gilham ur joking u'd think they would need a bit more height in defence.

I'm smelling late changes.

Team looks great !

And yes every line does looks good.
Every line has at least one superstar and two very good players.

Bally's fitness is the only worry.
But Hawks have gone with two "injury cloud" players, Croad and Pretty-boy Chance. Hopefully that will backfire.

Looks our most balanced side for the year.

It's all coming together.

Fortius !!!!!

Great call GL.

I think this game will be won off the bench. The four named on the bench can be instrumental in bringing in the victory.

Most plausible given the circumstances with the cloud over Croad.

And why would you either?

The successful teams that have gone deep in the finals in the last few years have made minimal changes

Stick with the winning formula!

Eddy. He'll be a solid player but in the past couple of weeks he's been a liability. Can't keep his feet and is struggling to dispose of the footy.

Just because we won last week doesn't mean we can't improve the team.

Well, he obviously does the job asked of him... or he'd be dropped.

Hawks backline is pretty crap.... Aside from Hodge, all are below par players... Hodge plays an offensive style anyway and will not be used in a negative role whatsoever...

If our midfield can atleast break even, we will kick a winning score against that defence...

What about their forward line. It goes ok and they have lost only 5 games we have lost 10 so I dont think it as simple as breaking even in the midfield to win. I think we must win the midfield by a fair way to win which I hope we can.

Agree.... We will need to a majority of the midfeild/contested ball, as their forwards are quite dynamic.. Luckily the Hawks rate low in contested possessions and tackles...

Unlike them, we do have a good defence, and may restrict them to less than their usual output, whereas if we get abit of it going forward, we should be able to convert more often than not...

We were very efficient last week, scoring every second inside 50 entry... Cant expect to kick as straight as last week, but our forwards are in good nick, and we have several options...

Its interesting to see Gilham not playing. If Croad doesn't come up, he'll definately come in but I still expected both of them to be picked. Whoever plays of the two, will most likely get Riewoldt leaving only Murphy to take Kosi. Furthermore, this doesn't leave them much opportunity to change should Riewodlt play well.

Might have something to do with the weather with a few showers forecasted. But if it is clear with no rain, they might bring Gilham in even if Croad is playing. It'll be interesting to see what happens if Croad does play, but with a bit of luck he won't come up and their decision will be forced.

Think we are more balanced, our Fwd line not as dynamic and their defence not as strong, they probably do us slightly for speed but I beleive we have a bigger tank overall. They rank 16th for contested ball and tackles I beleive, these are 2 very big stats deep in the finals, players are already feeling the conceived preassure of expectation, couple that with actual physical preassure and you will cause mistakes. We have up to 18 guys who have played in a prelim before, I think they have 2 in Crawford and Dew, maybe Croad?

Key match ups for me are Max to Buddy and Blake to Roughy.
CJ to Rioli
Mini to Mitchell about 5 minutes into the 1st

Question is do we play a defensive player on hodge or do we ensure that Hodge is their only loose player in the back line meaning that he has to fill the hole in front of Roo, thus giving us time to get preassure on him from the mids without clogging up the forward line. I fear that if we effectively put a forward tag on Hodge then they will drop another guy behind the ball to double Roo and we will end up with 15 players in our forward line, I would rather have 11 guys in our forward line and concede Hodge as loose but have 1 or 2 nominated guys to roll the dice and charge forward to try and curb his disposal out of defense?

Maybe this year?
