I don't think at any point in the season are we a 7-4 team. We were an 18-5 team in the first 6 rounds and a 5-18 team since.

Ping Pong!
HIT

If it were,
LLWLWWWLWW

instead of what it is...maybe we could talk 7-4 optimistically.

The last month has been dismal, but we were flying so high, we still have some space.

And other results flatter our ladder position

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

bulls***. We have expected more forward movement from our mids and went backwards instead. Are we undoing successes or working on deficiencies?
Let's expose the deficiencies and see who stands up, moving forward.
My money is on Owens and Windy moving into prime midfield roles. Who makes way and when, is the question?

Owens is being used as a forward - ruck

We have no other option

Windhager can’t even get in the seniors- for bulls*** reasons

Actually the warning signs came 2 rounds earlier against the Pies, they played well below their peak but still managed to expose us by getting through our midfield wall with greater skills in that area of the ground. Our advantage with fitness by R4 was leveling off which made the task easier for the Pies to move through the middle of the ground and get over our zone/wall. Port were also able to do the same and would have reviewed our game agaisnt the Pies hard.

Immature skill levels in the first 4 to 6 rounds across the comp also helped the Lyon plan as our wall defence across the middle of the ground made it harder for rusty skills to work through it. If you go back and watch some of our first 4 games it was quite ugly and mistake riddled footy from our opponents.

I thought we played well against Collingwood

They are the best team in it - and by some margin atm

Owens and Windhager are miles ahead of any other mid on the list in their development, with the exception of Crouch and Hill. They are coming but first we need to make room.

Steele, Ross and Sinclair took a while to make AA standard Steele is struggling and Sinclair has never played a full game in the middle.
His best football is as a running back and he is a pure outside midfielder, with a really strong core and impressive ground ball skills and delivery by foot.

Owens is better than Ross now.

Yeah they are...we got them well below their best but still had us covered and looked like they knew it.

Rubbish
Completely ignores how we played against Pies
What WE did well against them
Our good results are not always cause the opposition was shyte
Flawed thinking

Owens has not played as an inside mid in the AFL

What are you forming your opinion on??

Vibe
And the fact he couldn’t be any worse than Sebs last 4 games and last 2 where he had 3 touches in first half and 2 in second against GWS
I’d back Owens to have more impact
You think we should stick with Seb??

Because he impacts better than any other player in the team. Just put him near the ball.

By the way, have you seen him ruck. He rucks alot like an inside mid, the moment the ball hits the ground, then he chases the ball with intent, welcoming contact and has an uncanny knack of getting the ball more often then not.

It’s interesting he’s won clearance from ruck he just has that presence where you know he’s going to go all out to influence that contest
It’s that rare contested beast ability he has - he hunts it
He’ll be a monster in there I can’t wait to see him get a few games
I’ll be disappointed if Lyon doesn’t change that up

Yeah, your 'master coach' has turned Seb from a bloody good footballer into a "plodder".

He played pretty well. He missed round 1. He had 21 mates going pretty well too.

Brett was 8/3 at the bye, any concerns Lyon is only 7/3 at the Bye with a list that looks way shakier than it did this time last year.

Deeply concerning we got physically monstered by the Hawks and got overrun by this years wooden spooners, we like gave up in the last 5 minutes of the game. I'm very concerned we have a coach who's meant to get the best out of players and has a "system" and gets total buy-in but we gave up in the last five minutes of a game when we were so far in front. Something is wrong and I can't put my finger on it, any clues?

Pretty good win in round 10 against the Giants I would've thought.
The longer the season goes, the better that win will look, I reckon.

If our loss to the Hawks means we come out firing against South Melbourne I can live with that.
