I'm bored - jumper numbers

Post: # 1996634Post Stian »

I see that we have 3 unused jumper numbers - 2, 24 and 46.

Now, I get it for number 2 but WTF for 24 and 46?

Is there a gun who is ready to come to us in the mid-season draft but only if he can keep his present number? So, probably not a number 46 but who of the current 17 number 24s is busting to play under RTB and we can we expect to welcome in a couple of months?

My guess, players get offered, players refuse.

Wasn’t 24 Spud’s jumper at one stage?

24 is Sharman's but he has to earn it first. Heatley's old number.

Not "Simon Templar". He was here first. Please change my username to Bumstead and if possible make me one of those very large sandwiches, thanks!

It sure was, for bonus points can you remember what his number was before that?

I think Spud started with either 48 or 49. I think I lean towards 49 for one or two seasons.

Hats off to all of you !!

I wasn't aware of Spud's early number 24 (I have just looked it up and it was from 1985 to 1987) but congratulations to 1971 - you are spot-on. Spud was number 49 for his first season in 1984.

I’m pretty sure Nathan Burke wore number 48 when he first started in 1987.

Burke wore 29 first

Jeff Dunne was 48 and then moved to 8

Geoff Cunningham started with 25 and moved to 5

Trevor Barker started with 25 and moved to 1

Plugger started with 37, moved to 14, then 4

If it was 2, 24 and 49 they would all make sense, since Danny Frawley wore all three numbers at various stages during his Saints career.
