Re: First 22 Round 1 2023
Sinclair starting on the bench and you’ve got 4 ruckmen in the team
Good luck with predicting who will be fit in Round 1 and ….why don’t you just wait until the trade period has finished before you post a thread like this?
De Goey and Rattagulia signed are they? And Hill left already has he?
If that’s your wish list…I don’t think your aiming high enough. Why not put Dusty and Buddy in your team too

Re: First 22 Round 1 2023
Bench/midfield... same thing. 3 mids on the bench + 1 ruck
2 rucks are Campbell & Marshall.
I think we wont and should go for any more prized recruits. Keep with the draft and bring picks under 30 - I'll be happy with that.
THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A POSAITIBVE POST: NWM, Bytel, Windhager, Owens ARE emergencies. Ross not there. Paton, Webster not there.
No Byrnes either, who i could see as a winger/back pocket. No Paton, No Webster here. No Billings.
The whole premise, however, is that Clark/Coffield actually turn into footballers. I have faith. This needs to be a big yr for both.

The OP demonstrates that a lack of Saints playing footy does weird things to people.
I hate the off season.

I'm excited. Who are we playing? Is it a home game, what date - need to plan.

Re: First 22 Round 1 2023
Haha whoops. Thought I was missing someone. If he's fully fit he sneaks onto the bench. If he's just barely going or had an interrupted pre season then he's on the fringe.1965 Saint wrote: ↑Thu 08 Sep 2022 11:43amWhat’s happened to Billings?mad saint guy wrote: ↑Thu 08 Sep 2022 6:43am From our current list

Re: First 22 Round 1 2023
If WM is fringe next season we are in a much worse predicament than I thought.
I would expect that pick 9 will be in the team as well as at least one FA.

Re: First 22 Round 1 2023
Yes, it is a home game. And we won't give an inch of it away.
Played at Alec Inch oval, Mt Isa.
Relative humidity in March is 32% compared to 82% for Cairns.
So there should be no excuses this time.
Round 6 in China, Spratly Islands. To celebrate our record $120 billion dollar iron ore exports to China last year helping China build the navy we all need.
I think Long and Hill might stay now.
I like Mad Saint Guy's team, but we have to factor in a Ratts thing, kinda eccentricity, a "Rattricity" (you have my permission to use this word)
Ratts like to choose a player for Round One that he never intends to pick again.
A Luke Dunstan. A Dean Kent. A...???..wait for it...a Cambell.
Honesty can't see us improving much. I see us falling away, unless, unless...
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: First 22 Round 1 2023
I was picking purely on performance rather than planning for development. The genuine best 22. You'd certainly hope that he'll overtake McKenzie and Wood sooner rather than later, but at the moment both of them are ahead of him.
Re: First 22 Round 1 2023
Yes, the likes of Wanganeen-Milera, Windhager and Owens (plus the likes of Gresham, Billings and Coffield returning - and a fit Steele, Paton and Marshall) HAVE to push well past the likes of Ross, Webster, McKenzie, Butler and Wood and put pressure on Jones to perform consistently at his best, which is good enough)
Plus whoever else we bring in (and not the likes of Wood, Lienert etc de-listed by other Clubs lower than us on the Premiership table or, in fact, anyone de-listed by another Club).
As I contributed on the Trade and Draft thread, the stark deficiency from the 2020 side, which with some luck could have gone further, is the (subsequent and 2023) absence of Carlisle, Ryder and Hannebery.
So structure class and some added class to the mid-field rotations.
Then you get to Adams, Heath and Peris taking the next step.
Ultimately, thru the 2023 season, you would hope to see the following establish as core:-
Wilkie Howard Paton
Coffield Adams Clark
Hill Steele Wanganeen-Milera
Billings Marshall Windhager
Higgins King Membrey
Heath Crouch Sinclair
Gresham Long Owens Battle
Peris (Med-sub)
Pipe dream, maybe.
But that is where the requirement is in regards structure and class - because the structure post the departures of Carlisle and Ryder find us out (and before you get to the class Hannebery added to the mid-field rotations when fit)

Re: First 22 Round 1 2023
Battle had a great season at CHB, to put Adams ahead of him is bewildering.
We do need another KPD bit Adams is a long way off even being in the picture.
With likely trade scenarios
Wilkie Howard Paton
Sinclair Battle Coffield
NWM Windhager Wood
Gresham King Membrey
Owens Sharman Higgins
Marshall, Steele, Crouch
IC Ross, D-Mac, Hayes, Billings
Emg Leinert, Webster, Heath
Trade: Hill
Possibly Long or Clark, but not both
Depth : Byrnes ,Connolly, Bytel - no point trading for them IMO, better value developing them.
An early FRDP for our trades , and pick #10 and hopefully a free agent (fingers crossed for a DeGoey turnaround)
