Essendon v St.Kilda - Marvel Stadium, Saturday 5th March, 7:10PM AEDT

Post: # 1940286Post Impatient Sainter »

What we would like to see:
  • Improved skills across the team.
  • With Marshall playing I hope our midfield can lift and hold their own or have a win at centre clearances and stoppages.
  • A mobile leading working forward line who kick straight on goal.
  • Our small forwards to put pressure on Essedons attacking small defenders eg Hind. Get dangerous forward on the lead and make them play accountable footy. Far too often we allow the opposition defence to waltz through half back/midfield with no pressure.
  • Our wingman and small defenders to give us plenty of drive.

They won’t have Stringer, Hurley or Tippa, and they might rest their new star Wanganeen.

We have a good chance here.

Speaking of Hind- Who minds him? Now Missy Higgins wants to be free? So how do you neutralize a defender who is basically a line breaker? Do you put a defensive forward on him? Maybe a person like Long because he is so aggressive? You’d rather not be so reactive.. Interesting.

Long would be a good choice and my preference. Good thinking 99.

What I would like to see:
- Saints playing bruise-free footy, so we reduce risk of injury in what is only a step above intraclub; (think about Clark lying on ground in pain after attempted spoil on a Bluebagger);
- accurate F50 entries
- in fact, accuracy across the board (not picking Ross would be great)
- Jones not trying to take on 3 guys, just choose the first option and be accurate
- ppl on this forum not imploding after we lose, because it's purely a praccy match which we use to reinforce team rules and learn to deliver under pressure.

On GA mobile tickets for the game. I thought these were meant to appear in the Ap 7 hours prior to the game?

ie " Option 1) Get General Admission access by scanning in your mobile ticket upon entry. This will become available 72 hours prior to the match."

Can anyone see their GA ticket in the Ap yet?

last decent hit out and 13 days to round 1.
would like to see players having a crack ( bruise free doesn't mean injury free ).
Competition for spots exist as i think there could be up to 6 spots up for grabs come round 1 so hopefully see some put best foot forward.

To me locks are:

Webster, Howard Wilkie
Sinclair, Battle Highmore
Hill, Crouch, Clark
Billings, Membrey, Gresham
Butler, King, Higgins
Marshall, Steele, Jones

Ross, Sharman

Fighting for positions: Paton/ Connolly/ Byrnes/ Wood/Long/Kent/Campbell/ Bytel/ Hayes

Assuming Ryder injured and Hannebery inj

Some suggestion on Big Footy that Marshall may not suit up for this week. Guess we'll see.

UPDATE.

Ok, I can now see "View Barcode" on the My Tickets Tab.

I can now see the QR Code on clicking that. Though weirdly it does not say GA Admission, and rather refers to my reserved bay.

I want to see:

Good ball movement inside 50.

Accurate goal kicking.

No injuries.

It's bloody annoying to watch Jones get possession then hold on to the ball and try and take everyone on- should be quickly disposing to a team mate. Sort it out Ratts!

But I think that is a strength of Jones- a worm burning tow ball…I see Ross as more an outside switcher, receiving and shooting off a handball diagonally ..I think Tow ball is doing his best to impersonate Nathan Burke.

Most likely. But then practice games are there to try people out.

Say Marshall 80%, King 5% (up forward), Hayes 15%

It will apart from Hayes performance in the ruck to see how he goes around the ground and up forward which will be the bulk of his game.
