Travels all over the country side
Ask the Sainters, Ask the Sainters .....

If the Saints have any say in playing in Cairns can we make it mid-late winter. I will take holidays in July-August which would be perfect for a trip North.
I am not going at the end of the wet season when it is still (relatively) warm in Melbourne.

8 games in enemy territory 5 home games against interstate sides.
Not a good financial draw and 8 games against enemy territory is only one less travel than interstate teams

AFL is a joke if they do not compensate and if they do not, than the fix(ture) has to be even unless they want many of the teams to be unable to compete going forward.

Cannot give the powerful clubs the best financial draws then expect the other vic clubs to compete financially unless you are Geelong who play on a local ground built by the state (our money).

12 games at Marvel, our home ground, 10 of them being home games, that's gotta help the cause somewhat.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

freo, cats, hawks, crows, lions, swans. only three top 8 teams, two top four but one hopefully on the wane.
travel factor sucks though.

We play Geelong, Sydney, Brisbane, Fremantle & Hawthorn twice. Looks a reasonable draw all round with a tough last few weeks, but if we want to play finals we need to be beating these teams.

You have a point regarding inequality of the draw.

By comparison - Collingwood - 14 games at the MCG, 3 games at Marvel. 5 games interstate.

Maybe against Collingwood?

We could have, and arguably SHOULD HAVE, won both of those games last season.

While I am all for themed games, I think the concept of this one just does not work and that it hampers our ability to have a win..

We have the sixth hardest draw calculated by where clubs finished last year..this does not take into account interstate trips playing at Geelong etc

The AFL can go fk themselves

Didn't like the whole air of "more important things in life than football" around that game, personally. And if that sounds harsh, I reckon Spud himself wouldn't have cared for it.

Last year it was widely acknowledged that we had by far the toughest draw of the competition.

It doesn't look much better this year and yet we finished in the bottom half of the ladder last season. The travel inequities have already been pointed out and we don't play any of last season's bottom 4 twice.

Surely this is unfair treatment by the AFL yet again!!

That is precisely what you do.

The big clubs carry the can, subsidize the league, in return for a nice fixture.

The paupers get the handouts, in exchange for twilight Sundays, and doing what they're told. We are not expected to compete with big clubs.

HOLY COW! We drop those first two games we'll be 2-7 quick sticks!

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

The fixture is all about maximising the $$$ and nothing to do with fairness. We are a low crowd drawing team, particularly against interstate sides and I dare say the same with TV viewers. Until that improves we will continue to get shafted by the draw and the only way to fix it is continued onfield sucess.

Just need to beat whoever we are up against, simple really.
