The AFL’s reason seems to be that they want Brisbane playing at the Gabba on Saturday night and there can only be one game there per day and the elimination final has to be on Saturday therefore has to be in Adelaide. What are they smoking?

What’s wrong with
SK v Bulldogs at Gabba on Thursday night
WCE V Collingwood at Optus on Friday night
Port v Geel at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon
Bris v Rich at Gabba on Saturday night

Pretty good looking set of fixtures to me

Seems like we’ve done well there this year, why do some people just continually want to find things to whinge about? Let’s hope they’re a bit more resilient inside the hub!
Not sure why people are saying Adelaide over Metricon. Think the Gold Coast is a tad closer.

The Bulldogs would have the advantage at Metricon. They have played more games there and are also staying nearby I think while we would have a three hour bus ride from Noosa.

Adelaide is a long ground. It will suit our style.

In other words, the AFL unlikely to force Collingwood to play there if they had won tonight.

That theory was back-up in the discussion "On The Couch" tonight.
Does Collingwood now play West Coast in Perth?
Affirmative. Not only that, they have to move house to Perth for a week. We fly in and out of Adelaide.

Bit of flying around that we didn't need though. How about a Thursday or Friday night match at least? AT LEAST.

Do I take it there's no quarantine in and out of Adelaide? It's a non-issue if that's the case - they're giving us a ground where we have the advantage. I thought we'd be having compromised training but flying in and out shouldn't be a big deal.

No, the finals start a week earlier. It's likely to be Thursday 1st October at Metricon. Port will play in Adelaide, WCE in Perth and Brisbane at the Gabba.

The AFL did not even raise the possibility of an elimination final at Adelaide Oval until after the Collingwood v Port Adelaide game.
If Collingwood had won the game, and so Collingwood finish 6th, the possibility would never have been mentioned.
Eddie would have killed it and Gill immediately.
We need to add another 50,000 members before our club has such power.
With extra members comes not only membership payments but bigger sponsorship dollars.

The AFL had to make covid 19 fines hurt equally so made the money had to be included inside the salary cap.

Ratters said in post game presser, without any hesitation, “we’d prefer the Gabba”, but. bla bla”

Important thing to remember is that Eddie bought his son up to ‘assist’ him. I think they’ll like to stay in the hub limelight.

Most concerning is Carlisle now because if baby situation. Perfect excuse not to pick him. Or for his mind to wonder if picked. Geary, I feel is always solid.

Why wouldn’t the lions Tiges game be on the Friday night? It will get the most viewers prolly. Why should the Saints HAVE to play at Adelaide? The crowd at Metricon would be bigger

Playing at Adelaide it will be fly in - fly out.
Could be same day but with an afternoon game it could be fly in the evening before.
Yes he may be away at the crucial time but that could happen playing in Queensland.
Nope - everything in Adelaide is fly in/out same day as per the AFL exemption from SA's Covid health protocols

Couldn't agree more. The Gabba is a centre square clearance ground (it's quite short length wise) and really, the depth of the Dogs midfield has us covered. I think Adelaide suits us really well - it's big and open and allows runners like Hill, Jones and Butler to get on their bikes. I think we have the Dogs covered in the Ruck, I think we have good, functional key forwards to make their defenders actually defend (i.e. like Battle did on Haynes) and the Dogs' forwards are streaky at best. Even more so if Naughton plays.

Three keys for me? 1. Gears to lock down JJ (again); 2. Seb to do a job on either McCrae/Hunter or Libba (not sure you can really tag Bont and Smith is sort of the same); and 3. Keep it out of the hands of Keath and Daniel.

Also have had some big finals performances in Adelaide!

I think of the 3 grounds it gives us the best chance of winning.

You have to wonder why our senior coach selected the Gabba then.

The Gabba and Marvel are very similar. From memory, we go ok at Marvel.
