We will bounce back this week

Post: # 1789408Post tedtheodorelogan2018 »

I'm tipping a big rebound this week against the Eagles at Marvel.

The club has had a couple of ordinary games but were also not far off it at times during both games. The Eagles are playing like s*** at the moment so we need to be up and about to pounce on their premiership hangover they are having.

Win this week we go 5-3 which is bloody good.
Can'f see us beating Collingwood the week after but we should nail Carlton the round after that.
I would be very happy with 6-4 after 10 games.

Would also be fairly happy with 5-5 to be honest.

To bounce back would require the more experienced players to show a whole lot more leadership than yesterday. 75% efforts against top teams won't cut it.

And who will kick all the goals? Kent is inaccurate. Baroose had one good game, that's it for this year.
Skunk can't lead in the F50, it's too crowded- he's perfect getting it on the wing.
Parker will get 2-3.
Gresh n Billings will get hard tags and struggle.

So...where do the goals come from?

I think we will bounce back, but agree, some pretty poor showings by senior players yesterday.

This is the game we have to win  I don't care if we don't win another game for the season as long as we beat the Eagles I will be a happy man

Big ask. I'm just hoping we keep young players building games, I thought we'd win 4-6 this season so it's already a good year.

I want a GF. Who doesn't?

What I'd really like is to build young blokes into solid B+ to A- players just good enough to win but not so good they strip the club's cash flow for the next 10 years.

Don't give 2 damns about A++ players. A team full of B's will
last a decade and have many chances at a granny.

We've always looked to a few A++ guys to save us, imagine having a young team of really solid lads with 75 games into them...now that is exciting.

Some people do have a second profile. Normally just a joke one.

But this now constant running of two profiles in the one thread is just disrecpectful to everyone.

Pull you head in Ted and stick to the one profile.

Couldn't win if we started now. No one to throw it in after we miss from the goal square, Wet Toast will quickly round us up next week.

I agree with the general thrust of this OP but would amend it slightly to read: "we can bounce back this week"

It's absolutely winnable - in much the same way out of form top 5 teams would occasionally get rolled at Moorabbin in the 1980s. But those St. Kilda teams would hit the scoreboard in those matches which created momentum and got the crowd roaring which fed self-belief. Our new forward line coach will have his work cut out for him at training this week.
I think it is imperative that Richo plays a second ruck this week as Hickey and Natanui are out and Vardy was poor yesterday. Throw Longer into the ruck, and play Marshall as Bruce's foil in the forward line.
The mids need to be told to back themselves and break the lines and hit the scoreboard themselves.

we have to find a way to apply scoreboard pressure when we dominate a game. we had 20 inside 50's to 6 in the 3rd quarter yesterday yet got outscored. last week against Adelaide we smashed them in the first quarter yet we only had a small lead. Good teams make you pay

Sorry I cant agree with our injury list and Richo going back into his defensive tactic coaching mode. My prediction is Eagles by 35pts and the following week Collingwood by 70pts. We will lose more than we win from herein.

Have a real fear that it could be ugly. Potentially lose Webster making us even more inexperienced.
A midfield of Crouch Crouch and Sloane killed us how about Gaff, Yeo, Shuey Mastern.
With our entries McGovern could take 20 marks and win the golden fist in one round.

Hope i am wrong

Only way we bounce back will be if Cho is sick all week and stays away from the club

Do you know why there was such a positive vibe at the club in February and the players felt good about playing footy?

Think about it. We were told that others were taking the reins. Richo was not in control.

He's not alone in this regard and other clubs also have their head coach taking more of a back seat leading into the home and away season. Ratten was front and centre along with the new assistants and Billy Slater.

We had a brilliant preseason and we performed strongly during the JLT with the players motivated and excited to be playing a better style and hearing new voices leading and controlling the players.

It's pretty obvious that we will bounce back as a serious contender when we get rid of Cho

But it counts as our inside 50 even when they mark it inside our 50, right? And that's what they did all afternoon.

Very surprised if we don't run them into form the way we're going

Interesting footnote

Two sides we have beaten in 2019 played each other (Melbourne and Hawthorn)

And two sides who have beaten us in 2019 are currently playing each other (Adelaide and Fremantle)

Plus GWS beat Geelong at Geelong

So given who we have played and who we have not played, what are the expectations for the remainder of 2019?

Injuries notwithstanding (but look at Paton so opportunity delivers)

And one further comment, 7 rounds in where are those sides we have not as yet played (including those we played in the pre-season) sitting on the Premiership Table?

No doubt we have a way to go hopefully with better luck on the unavailable list, but I reckon we are genuine mid table along with a lot of others

West Coast...big bodies, super midfield, best key defender playing at the moment. It would take an unbelievable performance to knock them off. I'll be watching with my hands over my eyes

Dead cat bounce, at best. Premiership team vs what...what are we really - direction less..unless there are significant changes to blood players it will be another sterile exercise in the death by a thousand cuts reign of Emperor Cho.

I would much prefer a bounce forward instead of a bounce back.
