Fingers crossed for Lonie

Post: # 1787613Post Vazelos »

UPDATE ON JACK LONIE:

The Saints are confident that young small forward Jack Lonie hasn't ruptured his ACL.

But he will have scans tomorrow to find out the severity of his knee injury.

Lonie avoids ACL surgery - still have a few weeks of recovery though.
Ben Long cleared of left shoulder damage.
Rowan Marshall expected to get over his illness and be declared available for next week's match.
Quite good news really.

Bruce will have to be much better physically in order to pass muster to play next week though. Going by this week, Marsh would be the replacement for Bruce if he doesn't come up.

From Saints website

“St Kilda Football Club advises scans have confirmed Jack Lonie has avoided damage to his ACL.

The in-form forward will miss a period of football due to ligament damage to the lateral side of his right knee. Further assessment this week will determine a time-frame for a return to training.

GM of Football Simon Lethlean said it was disappointing for the talented forward but a relief that there was no damage to the anterior or posterior ligaments.

“We all saw how significant the hyperextention was and so to avoid a season-ending injury was positive news,” he said.

“Jack’s been in a great form for us and hopefully that continues in the second half of the season.”

Some good news. Young Jack has been a perfect example of how this young side have rehabilitated themselves in 2019. I wish Jack every success in achieving a full recovery... do NOT rush this boy back...let him recover. These are exciting times at the St Kilda Footy Club!

Tom Browne makes stuff up. Check out his Twitter exchange with Jack Reiwoldt who called him out.

All media make stuff up, it's their job.

Great news if correct that it’s not a reco, looked ugly.

Let’s hope the Jack Russell returns and takes up where he left off.

His front and centre crumbing and timing is only matched by Gresham at the Saints.

I have been a Lonie knocker in the past and didn't think he would ever make it for lack of height and skills.

I am happy to eat humble pie and admit I was very wrong.

He has really turned his form around and has been a major reason for the Saints improvement this year.

It is no coincidence that the trend of last Saturday's match dramatically changed with his exit from the field.

I wish him well with his recovery and hope it is not too long before we see him back in Saints colours.

Jack Russell - wow. How apt. If he was a dog, that’s him to an absolute tee!

Couldn't agree more with all of this. Imagine how we would have felt if he was delisted and picked up by Essendon.

Hopefully fixing up his knee will help him to kick straight. He is very wasteful.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
