Austin to have surgery

Logan Austin will have shoulder surgery this week, ruling him out for an extended period of time.

The key defender dislocated his left should in an incident at training late last week, and will undergo surgery tomorrow to repair the joint.

General Manager of Football Simon Lethlean said it was a disappointing result for the 23-year-old.

“It’s a frustrating outcome for Logan after doing a lot of work to get himself fit after a groin issue in the pre-season,” he said.

“But surgery is best option to repair the damage to the joint and ultimately set him up for the rest of his career.”

I think it was Steve Austin that was the Six Million Dollar Man. Austin had superhuman strength due to bionic implants.

There was a chance for him to have a real go at it with a few defenders going down but an unlucky break.

Well, that is five down for this season. Bad news for Logan, but good news for lots of players on our list who are now going to get some opportunities if they do the necessary work. Who knows? We may very well uncover the next Leigh Matthews or Ross Smith.

Really disappointed for him as he’s hardly had a dream run. Still very young and I liked the glimpses we saw last year.
