How many other teams would Geary be getting a game at? Tries hard, but skills are ordinary, which I feel has had a trickle down effect on the rest of our club the passed 2 seasons.

As much as I dislike Maxwell, and think he wasn’t anything special, he was a better and much more effective player than Geary.
Geary wouldn’t even get a look in at half the sides in the AFL, but I’m not surprised someone who rates Longer so highly would disagree

Geary didn't make himself captain.The playing group & the club as a whole did.I dont think Geary is a great captain but I do give credit where credits due.If I was at war & I wanted someone to watch my back I would pick Jarryn Geary even though he might not be the most talented soldier you would know whatever it took he would be there for you. He has given the best he can do but IMO his skill level is barely AFL standard & don't get me wrong this is not a sledge on Jarryn Geary I love his passion for the club but as I said IMO he is not the right man for the job.

Your opinion.You have over estimated Geary's ability big time. Cole was a rising star nominee 2018 and a solid defender is now a premiership player and he can hang his hat on that, so the jury would be out on that one. Geary was a rising star nominee in 2009. Problem for Geary is that he is similar to another footballer whom you overpraise and that is Bill Longer. Neither can kick with any efficiency or penetration and in Bills case , he just cant get a kick. Geary's skills set is not good. He is fit and can run all day apparently but that is not enough. Maxwell was in the Pies best in both grand finals and over 200 games in a strong team. Just remember I didn't initiate this thread to remove him as Captain.

IF Lonie was getting a game each week he would make a valuable member of the leadership group. He shows a good understanding of the game and awareness of those around him

Carlisle strikes me as a good potential leader as well - seems to have matured a lot since his earlier indiscretions and is well respected.

Well then the playing group have NFI & the decision should be taken out of their hands.
SL’s review determined there’s a massive leadership void on the field & on the training track. Need a guy that not only leads by example on the track but also demands & receives respect.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Hanners leads us out in r1 to be honest.
