A long way from their worst player, should we make a move on Jarryd Lyons?

In a word yes that is a shock he's going
consistent player for a long time
Good skills good ball use
You could only think he had a falling out with dew

Rubbish question mark is weak
If you know then say
How long did Hannebery have to go with the Swans
There are many reasons players have to leave clubs and after 19 games in 2018 your mud slinging doesn't quite fit

You maybe right stonecold, maybe wrong too. Surely a player of that calibre is worth doing some due diligence on, wouldn't you agree?

Worth a look, is an under rated type of player, can get the pill and not quick either and that is exactly what his bio says.

Straight to the Brions on a three year deal apparently.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Lions are really killing it at the moment.

I've listened to a few of Chris Fagan's pressers. He sounds like an excellent communicator and he is probably a very good operator in my humble opinion.

Our club should lake a leaf.

While they've certainly done some good things recently I think the footy world is going a bit over the top with praising them. I see many on Bigfooty are predicting Brisbane to make the finals this year but a glance at their 22 suggests this would take a monumental effort. I still have them in the bottom 6 for 2019. No doubt Lyons is a very handy free acquisition for them though

Brisbane are miles ahead of us. I think they could make 8th next year if all goes their way.

they have missed Rockcliffes' grunt and drive
they WILL miss Beams' class and finish
and Stefan Martin will be 31
but they have some kids with real A-grade potential
If they manage to pick up King - then yes I think their future will look pretty good

A lot of hype was generated about the Lions off the back of their victories against Fagans old club, take those two wins away from them and they are one game behind us on the ladder.

Interestingly their has been a lot of envy about the Lions performance this year from Saints fans on social media and this board in particular with a common claim being they have gone past us in development. Will clubs allocate more resources towards opposition analysis in preparation for games against the Lions in 2019? Will they go under the radar in 2019 and how will some of their young players handle the extra attention? It can take young players and a young team a season or two to adjust after announcing an arrival to the big stage with some good performances, however a subsequent dip or plateau against your first high tide mark has given rise in the past to the phrase "second year blues".

I watched their last 2 games live and they looked young a tired and desperately lacking experience, experience that can be compensated for with fitness and energy, especially early on in the season. Personally I can't see them playing finals next year, and if they do it means everything has gone right for them including very good fortune on the injury front. They are building, but probably a year or 2 behind in development from where we are at.

Top tier - contenders for the flag if they get a good run with injuries

Richmond
West Coast
Collingwood
Melbourne
Essendon
Hawthorn
GWS

Second tier - solid teams who would be hoping to make finals but aren't likely to go far in September

Sydney
Geelong
Adelaide
North Melbourne

Third tier - very unlikely to make the finals but shouldn't be in spoon contention

Fremantle
Port Adelaide
Western Bulldogs
St Kilda
Brisbane

Fourth tier - would be happy with 5 wins for the season

Carlton
Gold Coast
