Hopefully Richo does the right thing and keep all the kids in again for next week. No confidence in this happening tho...

I hope no one thinks they were playing for the coach.....not the case, probably more a case of self preservation given the promised wholesale changes at the end of the year.

Good effort. Fighting hard. Kids tried. Finally some spirit and a four-quarter effort, if not a four-quarter execution.

The good
- Jack Lonie saved his St Kilda career. He's got that in him. He always has.
- Jack Steele's best tagging job...ever? Also grabbed 29 touches. Super.
- Logan Austin's touches were mostly cheap, but he still got to 21 and that has to be something to build on.
- Bailey Rice had a really good go and may become a player.
- Paton has something; but not quite sure what it is.
- Membrey gains confidence when he gets some lead-up marks early in the game. Let him roam free early.
- Pierce was terrific in the ruck. Marshall was great around the ground. They are our #1 and #2 rucks...amazingly, we can probably trade out Hickey and/or Longer now.

Cons:
- We're still not great going into the F50.
- We still struggle to stop really easy goals.
- McKenzie probably won't make it.
- Hugh Goddard has been wonderful in the VFL but suffers from lack of game awareness and speed of thought. Needs lots and lots of AFL games in 2019.
- David Armitage and Jarryn Geary (injured) didn't quite give enough for senior players.

Pick 3 is a very nice reward. Wasn't hoping for defeat, but that locks us in for a podium pick.

A shame Lonie couldn't bring this to the table a lot earlier.

Great result tonight. We played well but fell short and we keep our draft pick. In fact we are now ,16th. Steele again played well and it pains me to Sat but Lonie was good as well. 71 kg is too light.
Bottom line is there is skin out thwre but need to be harnessed. Ratten would be help

Thought McKenzie was ok gave us some run out of defence and important touches at times
Goddard looks smart but just treacle slow

Marshall had 18 touches, 10 contested & 6 marks tonight.

Seriously hope we put a lot of time into him moving forward. Forget about names or draft numbers. He actually shows a lot of promise and I really hope we persist with him.

I think Goddard just needs game time at AFL level to see what he can really offer.

I think it will be pick 4, with Suns losing tonight. They will get pick 3 for Lynch.

Marshall and Pierce positives for me
Long a beauty
Patton has something
Lonie showed what’s possible
Gresham good
Billings looked good
There is a bit to work with which is why I think it’s coaching - look at the ball movement into fed 50 really unstructured and has been for years we need a really smart tactician who can help here
I think our shock and awe game style flustered hawks,,,,but it doesn’t work every week we know that ...
Bye bye Alan

We need to stop wasting games on Paddy and Mav.
They are both ineffective.
No need for them on the list.

The good:
* Jack Steele superb
* Billings played well, Austin looked good

The bad:
* More inside 50's again but lost
* Acres is too slow - I'd trade him
* Seb Ross 5 metre kicks
* Goddard not at AFL standard but not worried as he wont get a game when we are at full strength
* Sinclair, what's he doing in the team?
* Newnes another dud game
