Funny, I actually assumed she or he worked for the club and was the facilitator of information and did it well.

I wasn't one to read her posts regularly, but from what I did see it's pretty hard to understand how she'd draw the ire of anyone.

Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

They should be ashamed of themselves!
And so should the Mods who continue to let posters trade personal abuse.
Not every post is read and moderated. Impossible.

Reported posts are moderated. Abusive posts usually receive warnings and in extreme cases immediate bans.

No posts that were abusive towards Bratty were reported that I can recall.

Fair call.
But too often "debates" on this site erupt into endless full quotes between warring posters that inevitably get quite personal and abusive.
Maybe those tirades aren't reported.
But the fact that they are allowed to occur just creates a culture that personal abuse is acceptable.

My point is that posters are quite entitled to robust arguments (and they are often entertaining and insightful as most issues are shades of grey).
But the moment they stray from "That argument is stupid" to "You are stupid" is when the mods need to put a stop to it.

I, and I suspect most posters here, have never reported any post on this site for being personally abusive, but maybe that culture also needs to change if that's what it takes to get the Mods to stamp personal abuse out.

tis a simple lack of manners
arising from a belief in seperateness
leading to self rightousness expressed

abuse is the sympton not the issue

a (self chosen) allegience to Self
before community (your other Selves)
is the issue

If every abusive post was reported, more warnings and bans would be issued. Having said that I personally hate banning posters - I would much rather have them change their behaviour and give them multiple opportunities to do so. Those that refuse to change are the ones that get banned and eventually permanently banned - or leave.

To be honest, another thing I’ve found challenging is the actual response to reporting.

I’ve had a recurring issue over the last few months and the reasonable response is that the mods can’t be over everything so report report report... fair enough.
Yet when I have it almost comes across as though I’m being more a nuisance then anything.

Last time I did it there was no response, the time before that I was told that I had to ignore the person and that my highlighted examples would not be looked at.

Naturally the correct response for me was to back off and lighten up a bit but the response seems inconsistent and to me at least that’s a deterrent to reporting

To add to EM’s post a little more, IMO there are a couple forumites that are very keen to simply play the man more often then not.

Obviously it’s not appropriate to drop names but I dare say that if asked the question of whose history would indicate fairly frequent clashes and insulting... likely the same 2-3 poll would come up more often than not.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly no saint so to speak but the majority of my posts are part of football discussions and my bargies are with the same few forumites.

With the rules documented ppl are clever and keep within them but it gets quite frustrating either being followed around and insulted or seeing it happen to others

Hi Skeptic

Will look into your reports again. We don't respond to each and every report. We do however post in the reported post the action taken if any. So if you are concerned as to whether or not a warning was issued for a reported post - the outcome is in that post.

Also not every report is worthy of a warning. There are rules and the post is assessed directly against the rules. In some of the cases where the the rules are not broken but the post is skirting the rules, then a PM is sent to the poster to watch their posting as it is close to breaking rules. It simply differs each time.

Sometimes we PM an offender with an off system warning that they are on their last chance. One of those was sent today. So not every action is visible to the whole forum.

However I have never ever said that I would not look at reports! Ever.

From memory I told you that you had to report posts rather than send a complaint PM. That is the procedure so that the reports and warnings go into the system and are recorded for later cross reference if necessary.

Please note that each report takes around 5 to 10 minutes to assess because it cannot be looked at in isolation - the lead up posts / previous disputes amongst those posters and assessing what is written in terms of the actual rules comes into play. Then if there is a warning to be issued, it needs to be issued with an explanation and then the explanation posted in the original post. Unless it is a MAJOR offence where we feel it is necessary to communicate back to the poster who reported the rule breach, we leave it at that.

Simon

Hi Simon, don’t stress about looking into the matter again... it’s better to let it go / move on. Things appear to have settled for now anyway.

With regards to the response perhaps I misunderstood your response at the time or we’ll just have to disagree on that one.

Wasn’t meaning to come across as having a go at you... I think you u do a great job in what must be a tedious role.

Just sharing my thoughts

No worries - but just for anyone that happens to read this thread - here is a reminder re the rules:

REPORTING A BREACH OF RULES TO MODERATORS

The forum has a <!> button in each post for ANY poster to report ANY breach of forum rules to the moderators. The reporting poster will only be known to the Moderators but otherwise anonymous.

Use the REPORT FUNCTION <!>to alert the Moderators to a potential rule breach. Where possible, or deemed essential, your report will be acknowledged and/or decisions will be explained to you. Do not make threads or posts requesting the discipline. Only use the <!> function in the offending posts.

The Moderators will assess ALL reports from the Fan Form and Private Messages.
